The Taylor County News, July 18, 2024, Page 3. \ Obituaries Martin Thomas Beeland “Tommy” Martin, Jr., 84, of Reynolds, GA. died Thursday, July 11, 2024, at The Oaks Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., at Trinity Church of Reynolds. Burial followed in New Prospect Free Will Bap tist Church Cemetery. Tommy was a member of Trinity Church of Reynolds. After being a Boy Scout for many years, he earned Ragle Scout, the highest rank at tainable in the Scout program. In 1958, he won the State track 100-yard dash. He grad uated from Mercer University and the University of Georgia and was a retired educator, teaching at Hall County Board of Education and Bibb Coun ty Board of Education. He was also a Mason at Flowery Branch Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Beeland Martin, Sr, and Marie Free man Gilson; a son. Todd Bee- land Martin; and two grand sons, Matthew Martin and Travis Martin. He is survived by his wife, Joanie Martin of Reynolds; two sons, Tim Martin (Wen- dy Ward) of Missouri and Trent Martin (Beth Dcrmy) of Flowery Branch; one daugh ter, Tammy (Todd) Dudley of Sandersville; one step-sister, Gloria Sampson of Butler; two grandchildren, Amber (Jake) Beaty of Mt. Airy and Patrick Martin of Gainesville; two great grandchildren, Rae- lynn Beaty and Everly Davy; a niece and nephew; and several cousins.
