Democracy of Death.
Here is a gem from a funeral ora¬
tion delivered at the grave of a de¬
ceased Congressman, John N
Burns* by the late Senator John J.
Ingalls :
“In the democracy of death all
men are at last equal. There is
neither rank nor statioh in the re-
public of the grave. At this fatal
threshold the philosopher ceases to
be wise, and the songs of the poet
i are silent, Dives relinquishes his
millions and Lazarvs his rags. The

/" The Record has on exhibition in
the office one of the largest stalks
of okra ever seen in this section of
the country. The stalk is one of
a number raised by J. T. Edmunds,
in Toccoa. It measures 12 feet 7
inches in height, and at the ground
is 2-f inches in diamiter. M rs.
Edmunds gathered and used more
than 150 pods of okra of this stalk,
and there are a number on it still.
It is a curiosity. This okra, with
Mr. Walker’s corn, shows what
can be done iu the farm and garden
line in this section of Georgia.
Cotton ain’t in it.

Consumption
Salt pork is a famous old-
fashioned remedy for con¬
sumption. “ Eat plenty of
pork/’ was the advice to the
consumptive 50 and 100
years ago.
Salt pork is good if a man
can stomach it. The idea
behind it is tbit fat is the
food the consumptive needs
most. \

We suppose we are not re-'
vealing any trade secret when
we say that many medicines
are made up on the principle •
of the so-called “ shot-gun pre¬
scriptions,which were form¬
erly somewhat in vogue.
The idea of the shot-gun pre¬
scription was to put in a large
number of different drugs, each
useful for different purposes,
j n (h e hope that some orthem
might hit the case.
Vjnolf the med icine we sell

is not a scattering ‘shot-gun
prescription/’ but goes straight
to the mark.
It is the best thing we know
for a run-down condition, for a
listless for feeling, nerve troubles,
lung troubles—in fact, it is
a safe, pleasant, reliable tonic
and reconstructor.
It has cured so many people
right zht here here in town we _ offer __
money back if it fails to benefit.
