The Lee County Ledger Wednesday, January 9,2019 - Page IB Lee County Middle School, High School Swim Teams compete in Thomasville, Coffee County By Jen Perkins The Lee County Mid dle School Swim Team traveled to Thomasville on December 13, 2018, to compete. Swimming is a very technical sport, one that takes years to learn and better under stand. Our middle school team is working very hard at learning all the specifics of swimming. The way a swimming meet works is a new skill they are working on as well. Swimming teaches so many lessons about being constantly aware of what is going on and keeping track of the pace of the swim meet. Relays are excellent races that teach sportsmanship and accountability for your team mates as well as yourself. The middle school swimmers con tinue to learn and hone these skills every time they compete. Thank you to all the parents and supporters who traveled to Thomas ville and cheered for Lee County Swim! The Lee County High School Swim Team traveled to Cof fee County January 5, 2019, to compete in the first swim competition of the new year. Return ing to routine is always difficult, but the Trojan swimmers’ last practice was December 18th due to closure of the practice pool utilized by the team. The lack of practice and the fear of being under-prepared was visible in their at titudes and audible by their conversations. However, as warm ups progressed the anticipa tion of competition and the familiarity with their strokes took over and by the start of the meet they were ready for the day. The scores of the meet do not reflect the heart with which they com peted. Despite, the fear of being unprepared, and a couple swimmers recovering from illness, the Lee County High School Swim Team competed fiercely.
