Lee County Schools Declare February CTAE Month
Special to the Ledger
February is national
Career, Technical, and
Agricultural Education
(CTAE) month. Each
February, communities
across the nation cel
ebrate CTAE as well as
the many achievements
and accomplishments
by CTAE programs. In
celebration of CTAE
achievements nationally
and locally, Leesburg
Mayor, Jim Quinn,
made a proclamation
on February 7th at Lee
County High School.
The Lee County School
System is home to a
dynamic and growing
CTAE department under
the direction of CTAE
Director, Kenny Rob
erts. Lee County CTAE
encompasses fourteen
career pathways being
taught within nine career
clusters at both middle
schools as well as the
high school. The thirty
courses taught as a part
of the career pathways
are cutting-edge, rigor
ous and relevant classes
that prepare students for
a wide range of high-
wage, high-skill, and
high-demand careers.
CTAE classes are part
of a pathway, which is a
series of courses in each
discipline area. Each
pathway consists of three
classes that are taken in
addition to the core aca
demic classes required
for graduation in Geor
gia. The classes must be
taken in order from in
troductory to advanced.
In addition to the class
and laboratory work
done in CTAE courses,
CTAE pathways also
have learning opportu
nities through Career
Student Organizations
(CTSO). Each CTSO
has, as a part of its mis
sion, a duty to provide
community service in
an event that is intended
to make the community
a better place to work
and live. They also al

with other students from
across the state and na

tions. State and national
winners can win schol

With growth through
building new homes and
businesses, stormwa
ter pollution is rapidly
growing in importance
as a local and national
environmental issue.
Stormwater pollution
occurs when rain water
flows over streets and
picks up trash, oil, dirt,
and other pollutants as it
travels. These pollutants
are then carried to the
storm drainage system,
Ion. That is her “happy
place,” and has been
so for the past 23 years
here in Lee County.
Jane Moncrief, her
coworker and friend, is
the former owner of JR’
s His and Hers Salon,
which was also located
here in Lee County. Af
ter 23 years, she decided
to close her business.
She began working at
Blonde Inc. Salon and
has been there three
years. She and Janice
came to Blonde Inc.
Salon at the same time.
They’ve been coworkers
for 23 years and friends
even longer. Jane is mar

daughter, Anna Rehberg,
who is the joy of her life.
