Since then the Georgia Forestry Commis sion office that covers Lee County has issued several thousands of permits. Many of these permits were for burning normal yard debris such as leaves, limbs, grass clip pings, and shrubbery trimmings. In order to reduce telephone traffic and man-hours involved in issuing permits the Georgia Forestry Commission is advising Lee County residents to call 1-877- 652-2876 (1-877-OK2- BURN) or to go on-line at www.gatrees.org to receive a permit for burning yard debris. The use of these two systems will help free up the telephone to receive calls for forest management assistance and more importantly for wildfire calls. Dur ing peak burning peri ods a person desiring to burn yard debris should not have the problem of receiving a busy signal by utilizing these two burn permit systems. The 1-877-OK2- BURN system is an automated system that is very simple to use. It will request the zip code of the location that the burn is taking place and it will request your telephone number. This system will capture your telephone number which will serve as your per mit number for that day. The Internet system is also simple to use. Just log onto www.gatrees. org and select burn per mits on the home page. The next page will give instructions on how to make the permit request and will also give you the option of looking over the weather fore cast. The Internet sys tem will issue a permit number after your name, address and telephone is entered. On days when the weather is not favorable for burning, both sites will give a message as to why permits are not being issued. Most of the time, the reason a permit is not issued is that the fire danger is too high or the weather conditions are not favor able enough to promote good smoke dispersion. These permits are only for burning normal yard debris. It is only legal to burn natural veg etation. The burn should be at least fif ty feet from the nearest residence or roadway and there should be some means of controlling the fire. The burn should be completed one hour prior to sunset and should be com pletely out and not left smoldering. A compe tent person should be with the burn until it is completed. Also, burn ing should be conducted when winds will direct smoke away from smoke sensitive areas such as your neighbor’s home, highways, etc. REMEMBER the 1-877-OK2-BURN and the ON-LINE PER MITS ARE ONLY FOR BURNING YARD DEBRIS AND HAND TOSSED PILES; all other burns such as silviculture, agriculture, land clearing, and burns not described above still require a person to contact the Georgia Forestry Commission by telephone prior to burning. The telephone number for the Georgia Forestry Commission office for Lee County is 229-759-3011 or 430- 5122. By Harry R. Martinez, Ph. D ‘Dem Bones, pt. 4 The Scriptures viv idly contrast what could have been Israel’s future after the Exodus and what actually transpired in the nation. Because of her idolatry and unwill ingness to keep God’s ordinances, she failed to see the blessing of a land flowing with milk and honey. Ezekiel described her as a nation of “dry bones.” Just as God warned of discipline for disobedience, He promised restoration and blessing. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chron 7:14 NIV). The “day of the Lord,” yet future, will come as Israel turns to Christ in faith. “They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son” (Zech 12:10b NIV). Biblicists see in the phrase “the day of the Lord,” the fulfillment of God’s promises to Israel. The Apostle Paul stated the Biblical re cord accurately when he Thessalonica. “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away [departure, i.e. rapture] comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdi tion, who opposes and exalts him self above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God” (2 Thess 2:3-4 NKJV). Letter To The Editor Potential For Better Deals We seem to now be in a “trade war” with China and a lot of folks seem upset by this. My personal take on this situation is we finally have a President who will take on, face to face, those who have cheated us for a long time, a President who has said “Enough is enough”! A simple example is found in the Intellectual Properties the Chinese have stolen in the past, then selling them to produce product at reduced prices. Prices may go up but we will be taking steps to reign in the “other nations” pro- pensity to cheat us. It seems the interna tional stage continues to change, players change, come and go, but we have a President, willing to stand up for us and to stand for “fair play” in the internation al market place. We now have the potential for better deals as we deal with the International Community. Allan Russell away and meet the Lord in the air, many Bibli cal scholars believe the stage is already being set for ‘dem bones to come to life. Israel continues to remain daily in the fore front of the news, and all Satanic attempts to annihilate the Jews have failed, and will fail, for God has promised to preserve His chosen people. There are plans to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. Israel is recognized as a sovereign nation with Jerusalem as its capital. Perhaps this is a portion of Ezekiel’s message be ing fulfilled. “So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and ten dons and flesh appeared on them and skin cov ered them, but there was no breath in them” (Ezek 37:7-8 NIV). Having no breath speaks of the na tion’s spiritual unbelief for she still rejects as her Messiah, the One who died on the Cross. How ever, when the day of the Lord comes, the nation will believe that... “He [Jesus Christ] was op pressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judg ment he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken” (Isa 53:7-8 NIV). God’s prophet reveals the divine response. “I will whistle for them to gather them together, for I have redeemed them; and they will be as numerous as they were before” (Zech 10:8 NIV). Though ‘dem bones of the whole house of Israel are dried up ... “This is what the Sov ereign LORD says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD” (Ezek 37:12b-14 NIV).
