Mrs. Royals was able to learn invaluable information about businesses in our area and skills that graduating Lee County students need in order to fill these positions upon graduation. The 9th Grade Campus plans to continue working with the Chamber on helping our students make the connection between school and career. PLEASE CALL 229-886-1112 Smithville City Election November 5 During their meeting July 18th, the Smithville City Council of the City of Smithville set the city election for Tuesday, November 5, 2019. The election will be for Mayor and City Council Wards I and 2, to fill terms expiring on December 31, 2019. The November 5, 2019 election will be held between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The Board of Elec tions of Lee County shall perform all duties with the exception of the qualifications of candi dates. For the purposes of this election, City Clerk Cassandra Burton is designated to handle the qualification of all candidates Poll officials shall be named and designated by the city council, and the names entered in the Minutes of the City of Smithville prior to the holding of this election. Voting machines shall be used for this election. The election will held in the Smithville Com munity Building located at 106 Main Street in Smithville. Each candidate for Mayor and City Council Wards I and 2 shall file a notice of candidacy in the office of the City Clerk at Smithville City Hall on or before August 23, 2019, at 4:30 p.m. but not prior to August 19, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. The qualifying fee for the position of Mayor is $25.00. The qualifying fee for a position on the City Council is $15. Any person who is a resident of the City of Smithville and is a qualified voter shall be eligible to vote in this election. The registrar shall cease taking appli cations for registration from persons desiring to vote in this elec tion on the close of the registrar’s business on October 7, 2019.
