Westover Blvd. Albany, GA 229-436-1507 East Lamar St. Americus, GA 31709 229-380-0256 County To Implement No Smoking Policy for Employees During the meeting Tuesday night, Septem ber 24 the commission ers approved motion by Commissioner Vice-Chairman Rick Muggridge to implement a no smoking policy for employees on county property. The effective date was not announced. After tabling the creation of a public park on Creekside Drive during previous com mission meetings, the commission once again the commissioner left the item tabled. The idea of converting 626 Creekside Drive and 634 Creekside Drive into a public park had been discussed. It was suggested the a fence be installed and a key given to EMS for emergency use. The Board of Com missioners recently purchased four adjoin ing lots on Creekside Drive - 618 Creekside, 626 Creekside, 634 Creekside and 650 Creekside as part of the Hazard Mitigation program. It was noted that by utilizing the two lots as a public park, it would still leave a vacant lot on each side. Thus it should not interfere with adjacent property owners. Tuesday night, the commissioners awarded the bid for the repair and/or replacement of the fences surrounding county holding ponds. The commissioners awarded the bid to Atlas Fence Company for $33,878.61 for the repairs and/ or re placement of fencing and gates around three holding ponds. Several fences sur rounding holding ponds throughout Lee Coun ty were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Michael in October 2018. The holding ponds where the fence will be replaced are in the 200 block of Archie Drive, Cambridge Road and Endoline Drive .
