Downtown Leesburg 759-6200 Special photo by David Shivers Kiwanis DoCo annual pastor appreciation The Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County honored local pastors and clergy at its annual Pastor Appreciation Day luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn on October 21. Each year, club members are encouraged to invite clergy from their particular congregation to be guests for lunch and recognition. Each guest received a gift bag of items to help them in their daily faith mission. The churches represented and their clergy included Byne Memorial Baptist Church - Bruce Pittman, Duane Logsdon, Steve Williams and Hal Pinson; Lifegate Church - Cory Wise; First Presbyterian - Josh Bower; Episcopal Church of St. John & St. Mark - Galen Mirate; First United Methodist Church - Anna Miller and Thad Haygood; St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church - Nick Roosevelt; Porterfield United Methodist Church - Robert Greene; Christ United Methodist Church, Dan Harper; Sherwood Baptist Church, John Spencer; retired Episcopal priest Jim Bullion, and evangelist Larry Price. Alexander Veteran of the Month Why Vote Vincent Cutts For Smithville Mayor? Vincent Cutts is 48 years old and a 1989 graduate of Lee County High School, a 1993 Graduate from Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC), he received his A.S. Degree in Agriculture Management Tech nology. He is also a Graduate of Fort Valley State University in 1995; he received his B.S. Degree in Agriculture Education. He is currently employed with Terrell County Board of Education. He has taught high school for 25 years. Vincent is an active member of the Mount Able Baptist Church 2518 New York Road, Lee County, where he serves on the Deacon Board, sings in the Senior Choir, and teaches the Adult Sunday School Class. He is an Active Member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Pi Iota Lambda Chapter where he is currently serving as Vice President. He served on the Smithville City Council from 1997-2013. While on the council he served as Mayor/ Protem for several years. He received his cer tified Elected Official Certificate from Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in 2011. He has taken over 120 credit hours for Elected Officials offered by GMA. He assisted with several grants that were awarded to the city. He has a strong love and passion for the City of Smithville. He is married to Telisa Taylor Cutts, they have 3 children; Jacobi, Kourtlyn, and Kamille. Special to the Ledger Bob Alexander was born in Glendale, Cali fornia, during World War II. He graduated from California State Univer sity with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1968 during the Vietnam Era. He proceeded to join the Army and was stationed at Fort Gordan in Au gusta, Georgia. While at Fort Gordan, he was a Crypto Radio Instructor at night for the Army and the Assistant Traffic Engineer for the City of Augusta during the day. In 1971 he was hired by the City of Albany to set up a new Traffic Engineering Department and made Lee County his home. He has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Georgia Southwestern and a Masters in Public Administration from Nova University. In 1997, the City of Albany combined Transportation Engineering, Project Management, and Civil Engineering into one Department and Bob was named Director of the new Engineering De partment. In 2007, he retired from the City of Albany and went to work for Lee County as the Director of Planning and Engineer ing. In 2013 he retired again and went to work for the City of Leesburg as their first City Man ager. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia, Past President of the Georgia Insti tute of Transportation Engineers, Past Vice Chairman of Chehaw Park Authority, Past President of the Sertoma Club, Chairman of the Lee County Emergency Food & Shelter Board for the United Way of SW Georgia, and chairman of the Board of Direc tors of the Artesian City Federal Credit Union. His hobbies include rehabbing old buildings, tennis and sailing. He is Bob Alexander married to Anita from Milledgeville, Geor gia and they have four children and 11 grand children. New Face at Twin Oaks Elementary Special to the Ledger Mr. Cody Stebbins is originally from Charlton County and has lived his entire life in the state of Georgia. He began his musical career as a 5th grader at Folkston Ele mentary School where he started learning how to play the trumpet. At age 14, Mr. Stebbins developed a passion for music through playing the guitar. During his college career, his prima ry instrument was the classical guitar. Working at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp influenced his de cision to become a music teacher. Mr. Stebbins joined the Twin Oaks Cody Stebbins family this year with his Bachelor’s degree in Music and Master of Arts degree in Teaching. Welcome to Lee County, Mr. Stebbins!
