The Lee County Ledger, Wednesday, November 6,2019, Page 7A Veteran’s Day Parade in LeesburgNovember 16 Participants are wanted for the Veteran’s Day Parade which will be held Saturday, Novem ber 16, 2019. Applica tions may be picked up at the Lee County Chamber of Commerce or at the Lee County Ledger or by calling Denzil H. Harrell at 770-714-2576. The November 16 pa rade honors those fight ing in the United States’ longest war - the Global War on Terror and hon ors the servicemen and women that have served since Vietnam, such as the Dominican Repub lic, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Somalia, Bos nia and Kosovo. Featured in the parade this year will be the Fort Benning Maneuver Cen ter of Excellence Band. They will wear combat uniforms and berets in accordance with the theme of the parade. Applications are being accepted for Commer cial, Non-Commercial and Dignitaries. When submitting an appli cation, the name of Organization along with mailing address, phone number and Email address will be needed, along with the number and type of entries by listing if it is a vehicle + float, car(s)/truck(s), tractor(s), walking or marching. No entry will be allowed in the parade line-up without the completed & signed application. STAGING AREA & TIME: 9 a.m. Lee County High School parking lot. PARADE START TIME: Parade steps off at 10 a.m. sharp. PARADE ROUTE: You must travel the entire route from begin ning to end. You cannot disburse until you have reached the end of the designated route. CHILDREN 12 YEARS AND YOUNGER: Floats with children under 12 years old will have to be accompanied by four adults walking beside the float. Two adults on each side. MUSIC: Any unit using sound must play Patriotic music only. No stopping during the parade route. DRIVER OF VEHI CLES: If you are a driv er and the vehicle suffers mechanical failure, get your vehicle to the side of the street as quickly as possible. Attempt repairs on the shoulder of the street and if pos sible. attempt to rejoin the parade at a safe point. Make sure that the on-coming parade participants are aware that you are attempting to rejoin the parade. PARADE MAR SHALS: Parade Mar shals have the authority to seek the removal of any person or units from the parade, when in their judgment, parade guide lines are being violated Please note that the Pa rade must have constant movement and please maintain at least one car length between all units. Participants waive, release, discharge and agree to hold harmless and indemnity the Lee County Chamber of Commerce, County of Lee, Georgia, the City of Leesburg, GA, and all sponsoring agencies of any kind of liability from personal injury or property damage. Participants also read and pledge to abide by the policies set forth on the parade application, and understand that the Lee County Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to accept or decline any entrant. Participants further understand that the application in no way constitutes approval or ultimate selection for participation. To help the announcers during the parade, par ticipants write a descrip tion about the entry and/ or a brief description of the float. (Must be typed or written clearly). This is Ash, a Red Heeler mix. Ash is approximately 2 years old. She is super friendly and loves to get attention from the shelter staff and their visitors!
