Obituaries Drury “Dm” Anderson Shielding Drury “Dru” Ander son Shierling, 20, died October 16, 2019, in Athens, Georgia. Dru was the son of Marion Shierling and Rosalind Ragan-Adams, who was born on March 6, 1999, in Columbus, GA. Dru is survived by father, Marion Troy Shierling of Lumpkin, Georgia, his mother Rosalind (Scott - special step-father), Ragan-Ad ams, brother Talon Ra gan Shierling and sister, Emma Marguerite Shi erling, all of Leesburg, Georgia; many cousins and friends. Dru was a 2017 gradu ate of Lee County High School. Dru was a junior at the University of Geor gia studying Business and had decided to also pursue International Affairs. Dru was an avid cycler, and passion ate about conservation, preparation of whole some and natural foods, personal health and well-being, replenishing trees and saving our planet. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, 2:00 PM, at the Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel in Richland, Georgia. The Reverends Dan Smith and David Murphy officiated the service. Bunch Mr. Foster G. Bunch, 74, of Leesburg, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019, at Satilla Hos pice in Waycross. Robert L. “Bob Garner Mr. Robert L. “Bob” Garner, 75, of Leesburg, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Services honoring the life of Mr. Garner will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, at Andersonville National Cemetery, with military honors. Born August 10, 1944, in Boulder, CO, Mr. Gar ner was the son of the late Leonard and Thelma West Garner. He proudly served our country and retired from the United States Marine Corps. He was a Denver Broncos fan, enjoyed golfing, but most of all was a ded icated husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife, Elaine Garner of Leesburg; daughter, Anissa Hen derson of Leesburg; son, Pete Garner of Leesburg; grandchildren, Mariah Collins and Cade Gar ner; brother, Les Garner of Ft. Grover Charles (Buddy) Woolard Mr. Grover Charles (Buddy) Woolard, 82, of Albany, Georgia, entered his eternal rest Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Willson Hos pice House. He was born on April 16, 1937, in Sylvester, Georgia. Before his retirement, Buddy was the owner and operator of Woolard Oil Company in Sylves ter, Georgia. He was an Army veteran. Buddy became a follower of Jesus Christ at the age of 35. He has been an avid Bible stu dent and teacher for 47 years. He has led Bible classes in Sylvester, Poulan, and Albany. He has served as the teacher of the Encourager Con nect Group at Sherwood Baptist Church for the past 15 years. A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Sherwood Baptist Church. Pastor John Spencer and Rev. Tom Pollock officiated. Mr. Woolard was preceded in death by his wives, Nell and Pat Woolard, his parents, Henry Hall and Vee Woolard, and a brother Hank (Sonny) Woolard. ' Royce “Sam” Ellerbee Mr. Royce “Sam” Ellerbee, 85, of Albany, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, at Phoebe Putney Memo rial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, November 11, in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Larry Dean officiating. The in terment was held at Har mony Baptist Church Cemetery in Turner, Co. at 4:30 p.m. Mr. Ellerbee was born on July, 17, 1934, in Ashburn to Addie Mae and William Ike Ellerbee. Sam attended Turner County Schools and graduated in 1952. Sam joined the Air Force and was eventual ly stationed at Altus Air Force Base. Altus, OK. Which is where he met Anita Morrison. They had two boys, Bo and Buddy. After the service Sam returned to Georgia where he was employed by Sears for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Bo, his brothers: Pete, Hub, Ed, Clyde, and Dick. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jan Ellerbee of Albany; his son, Buddy Ellerbee of Sylvester; the mother of his sons, Anita Ellerbee of OK;, his step sons, Brad (Carla) Shook of N.C., and Chad (Misty) Shook of Lee Co; his grandchildren, Brandon Ellerbee of Albany, Will Ellerbee of Merietta; his step grandchildren, Amber Barragan and Courtney Shook both of Lee Co., Haley Shook and Dakota Shook of N.C. and Christian Burnfin of Lee Co.; his sister Willie Chattin of Sylvester; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry Thomas Smith Mr. Jerry Thomas Smith, 81, of Albany, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Satur day, November 2, 2019, at Regency Hospital in Macon. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in the chapel of Hall & Hall Funeral Home. Following the services, he was laid to rest in Floral Memory Gardens. His brother, Rev. William Smith officiated. Mr. Smith was born October 17, 1938, in Colquitt County to the late William E. and Lula Christine Smith. He proudly served his coun try in the United States Navy and went to work as a police officer for the Albany Police Depart ment and later a fireman for the Albany Fire Department. After his service in the commu nity he went to work as a mechanic and welder for Firestone where he worked for 17 years until they closed. In his free time, Mr. Smith loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family that he adored. He was of the Baptist faith and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Smith was preced ed in death by his wife, Delores Smith; daughter, Nila Smith; and sister, Judy Kirksy. Survivors include his children, Timothy Smith (Julie) of Christiana, PA, Thomas Smith of IL, Cammie Smith (Brian Bazemore) of Baconton, Latricia Helms (Gary) of Baconton, and Marcia Hendrix (Ken) of Ma con; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Smith of OK, and sisters, Ra chel Posey (Hermis) of Buena Vista, and Faye Phillips (Joe) of AL. Condolences may be shared at www.halland- hallfuneralhome.com. Lucille Griffin Hayes Myers Mrs. Lucille Griffin Hayes Myers passed away peacefully on November 8, 2019 with family by her side. She was born in rural Geor gia near Quitman in 1922 and was a beautiful 97+ years of age. Mrs. Myers came from very humble beginnings as the 8th of 12 children, all born at home and all required to work on the farm (sharecropping, picking cotton and other farm chores) from a very early age. As a result, she was determined to better herself and ultimately became a li censed cosmetologist in 1952. After working for others in that field for a few years, she branched out and started her own business, employing several other cosmetol ogists. Lucille’s Beauty Shop was a very popular and fun gathering place in Albany, GA, for many years. After a serious child hood illness, she de termined to become a healthy person and practiced diligently what she preached about good eating habits and exercise. She began jogging and walking in her neighborhood daily as a young woman and was even ridiculed by some before it became the thing to do in later years. Mrs. Myers fell and broke her back when she was 90 years of age, but determined to get back on her feet and start walking again. She was still walking about an hour each day with her walker at age 97. She came to know the Lord Jesus Christ in her young adulthood and never swayed from be ing a powerful, unafraid witness to others about Him.
