The Lee County Ledger Wednesday, November 20,2019 - Page IB Trojans Cruise To Easy Victory Over Greenbriar, 50 to 0 By Steve Glover Well, your Lee Coun ty Trojans crushed an over-matched Green- briar team Friday night in weather only a polar bear could love. This week will be a much different game as we will be taking on the Creekside Seminoles who are fresh off a convincing win over Alpharetta 28 to 0. Creekside has won a State Title and are peak ing at the right time to give our Trojans a major challenge. Creekside will have six D1 commits just on defense, another two on offense, with a massive offensive line that will look to push our young defensive front seven around in the trenches. This Friday, we will look to an offense that has been led by senior Kyle Toole who contin ues to build off a great junior year and seems to be up for the challenge Creekside will present. Kyle will continue to look to junior Chauncey Magwood, our leading receiver. But Tyrus Washington, David Goodwin, and James Hopson will be counted on this Friday as Mag- wood usually draws most of the attention of defenses. The running backs have been solid all year with Preston Simmons, Christian Fra zier, and Mr. Versatility JuJu McDowell who has scored every way imaginable. Offensive coordinator Johnathon Thompson said the key this week will be our ability to run the ball and keep the talented defensive skill people of Creekside off balance. Creekside has not faced a team like Lee this year - a team that boosts two power fullbacks in Marlon Brown and Emory Lowe who both come in around 250 pounds and who love contact. In last week’s blow-out win, both re corded touchdowns with what looked like a bull running through rodeo clowns, with bodies scattered everywhere. But let’s set the record straight, the real work is done up front with the Big Guys. Parker Rogers and Wing Green will tell you that not only are they the best-looking guys on the team but the smartest too. Parker and Wing have anchored this offensive line all year. They have been joined by fellow seniors Chris Zapata, Eric Tabor, Cameron Peek, Bren- don Harper and lone junior Zac Cleveland who seems to be finally back to 100 percent. He will be anchoring Kyle’s blindside this Friday night and promised Kyle everything will be okay. The defense has con tinued to improve. We will look to tackling ma chine junior Baron Hop 5 tips to help keep kids healthy during cold and flu season (BPT) - It’s here again - that time of year when everyone seems to unwittingly pass colds and other illnesses around. The front guys will have to play great as they are going to be faced with the task of stopping the very large offensive line of Creekside. The front is led by our lone senior Josh Robinson. Junior Jeffery Bryan has played great at nose tackle along with sophomore Damarion Roberts and senior Jeremiah Robert son. The secondary will be challenged as well, but sophomore Quavian Carter has continued to improve at safety, along with Chauncey Mag- wood, Jimyrion Young, Cedric Wynn, Andrew Willis and Jason Haw kins. The linebacker play has also gotten better with every game with Anthony McGrady, Jaron Willis, Cade Max well and Juwan Bailey emerging as a great compliment to Baron Hopson. This is a very young group, but Friday they will have to grow up fast and play with the discipline that Defen sive Coordinator Butler preaches every day - DO YOUR JOB and every thing will be okay. For all our fans who braved last week’s weather thank you, and to all the Trojan faith ful, this Friday’s fore cast looks awesome so expect to see everyone here at Trojan Stadium for the 7:30 kickoff. This match-up is going to be a dog fight and we will need to have the home crowd to help gain every advantage we can get to beat Creekside. If Lee can pull out this win, a match-up with the number one team in the state is looming, but this is the last guaranteed home game for your Lee County Trojans as a coin flip will decide future home field sites. So to my Trojan friends, as always! GO TROJANS!
