The Lee County Ledger Wednesday, November 27,2019 - Page IB Trojans Set To Host No. 1 Dacula Falcons By Steve Glover Last Friday night, your Lee County Trojans played a very talented Creekside Seminole team and took care of business in true blue col lar fashion. The Trojans would get out to an early seven-point lead and stretch it to 21 to 7 at half with two late second quarter touchdowns. The second half would be all Trojans, as we would dominate the Seminoles in every phase of the game. When the smoke had cleared, your Trojans had put a 49 to 7 beat- LCHS Swim Team competes at Yellow Jacket Meet By Jennifer Perkins The Lee County Trojan High School Swim team travelled to Thomasville to compete in the Yellow Jacket Mid-Week Meet. This competition was the Trojan’s first opportunity to test their fitness and racing skills. The High School Boys’ team did not graduate any senior swimmers last year, so the returning team was ready to pick up where they left off improving on the things they can con trol as swimmers. The High School Girls’ team graduated five seniors last year that contributed greatly to team points, the returning members were eager to begin the rebuilding process. The Lee County swim mers got down to busi ness and competed with speed and strength. Re lays were united and the team cheered and sup ported each other from the pool deck. The team rankings were posted and the Lee County Trojan Boys team finished 2nd place out of 6 schools. The Girls team finished 4th out of 6 schools. The Lee County Trojan’s finished 3rd place in the overall combined team scores. ft was a great first meet with strong efforts put forth by all swimmers. Thank you to all the par ents and supporters that travelled to Thomasville and helped set up heaters and tents to keep our swimmers warm. It was one of Dean Fabrizio and his coaching staff’s best coaching jobs of the year. They had a tre mendous game plan and it showed. The players executed the plan to perfection. The win sets up a huge showdown with the number 1 ranked team in AAAAAA. The Dacula Falcons come in with a 12 and 0 record and have basically been unchal lenged this year. This will be a huge challenge for our young Trojans, but we have one huge advantage. We get to play at the Trojan Den where we have not lost in nearly three years. Your Trojans have won 40 of the last 42 games, 12 playoff games in a row and 28 in a row at home in the last three years. Last week I told you the offensive line and Kyle Toole would be keys to victory against a blitz-happy Creekside team. That would be evident early and often as Kyle would hook up with James Hopson for a 60-yard touchdown on our very first pos session. Kyle would finish the night with four touchdown passes, 229 yards, and zero intercep tions. The offensive line would open up holes and dominate the Seminoles like they have not been dominated all year. The running backs would finish with 219 yards rushing. JuJu McDowell would finish with 64 yards rushing on one carry when he left with a twisted ankle. Preston Simmons would finish the night with 14 car ries with 54 yards and continues to run hard behind this massive line. Marlon Brown would have 39 yards and one touchdown that included a powerful run on a fake punt that once again have multiple broken tackles to get the ball to the three yard line. I was proud of our offensive coordinator who reward ed the big man with one more carry that he would push into the end zone. Senior Christian Frazier would have 6 rushes for 35 yards and 1 touch down. McWhorter would finish the scoring with a nice 25-yard run in the 4th quarter to cap the scoring for the Trojans. The receivers would take advantage of every opportunity. James Hopson would take his only catch 65 yards after bouncing off a lineback er and leaving every defender in his wake. Once again BIG Emory Lowe would catch a pass and rumble 55 yards for a Lee County touchdown. This kid is turning into a true offen sive weapon as well as a great blocking fullback. The best catch of the night was Chauncey Magwood who would catch a Toole pass over his shoulder with a defensive back hang ing all over him for a touchdown. Goodwin, McDowell and Addison would each have one see Trojans, page 2B HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
