The current legislation is in effect until December 31, 2020. The authority is an institution of public charity dedicated to the promotion of the general public welfare in matters of cultural development, education, pleasure, con venience and recreation of the public at large and particularly those citi zens residing in Lee and Dougherty counties. Currently the Chehaw Park Authority has nine voting members of which one is a Albany City Commissioner, one from Friends of Chehaw and seven other members. Proposed changes would have seven voting mem bers made up of three members appointed by the Albany City Com mission, Albany City Manager, one member appointed by the Dough erty County Commis sion, one appointed by the Lee County Com mission and one mem ber from the Friends of Chehaw. Those members would serve three year staggered terms. For the bill to be intro duced in 2020 legislative session, resolutions must be approved by the Lee County Commission, the City of Albany Commis sion, Dougherty County Commission and Che haw Park Authority. The property was approved for rezoning to R-2 to construct senior apart ments on a 9.64 acre parcel. The zoning was approved conditionally, requiring approval of DCA Tax Credits prior to December 31, 2019. A preliminary approval was granted for a 46 unit senior adult complex (five one bedroom and 41 two bedrooms). Because the final development request is more than six months old, the commission ers approved the final development plan to be submitted for planning commission review in lieu of requesting a new preliminary approval and subsequent final development plan. The commissioners approved an agreement with Lee County Youth Baseball for 2020. LCYB uses the county’s recreational fields at the Park Street Complex for a baseball program for the children and youth of Lee County. This is Cleo. She is a Lab mix about 5 to 6 months old.
