John Jones presents at history conference Special to the Ledger Ten Georgia South western State Univer sity (GSW) students, including John Jones of Leesburg, attended the Middle Georgia State University History Con ference on November 16, making the largest contingent from any campus. Eight of these students read original research papers on diverse topics including African American slave narra tives, the Vietnam War, Koinonia Farm’s region al history, art education in China, and Christian youth activism in the 1960s. The trip was supported through GSW’s High Impact Opportunity Grant program. Participants included Dr. Susan Bragg, Ekele Kamalu, JR Jones, Christian Abercrom bie, Chasity Higdon, Makayla Graham, Nikki Kadima, Nicole March- ant, Taylor Potter, Jonah Dodson, and Carlos Sanchez. Georgia Southwestern State University, located in Americus, Ga., is a public, four-year unit of the University System of Georgia with more than 3,000 students. Georgia Southwest ern offers outstanding professional programs of study as well as degrees in the arts, humanities, sciences and graduate programs in business, computer science, education, English, and nursing. Gas prices in Georgia are 2.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 19.9 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. According to Gas- Buddy price reports, the cheapest station in Georgia is priced at $2.l2/g while the most expensive is $2.99/g, a difference of 87.0 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state today is $2.l2/g while the highest is $2.99/g, a difference of 87.0 cents per gallon. The cheapest price in the entire country today stands at $l.88/g while the most expensive is $4.99/g, a difference of $3.ll/g. The national average price of gasoline has fall en 3.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averag ing $2.55/g today. The national average is down 5.5 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 19.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
