Greg Kirk Died December 22 Georgia Sen. Greg Kirk died Sunday morn ing, December 22 after a battle with cancer. Sen. Kirk, informed the citizens in June about his diagnosis of bile duct cancer. It was reported last week that hospice was assisting with his care. Funeral service for Senator Kirk will be Friday, December 27 in Americus at Central 8 10499 02456 8 Baptist Church. Visi tation will be 12-2 pm with the service begin ning at 2 pm. Sen. Kirk was a former pastor and a licensed counselor who owned a mediation company in Americus. Senator Kirk was an advo cate for small businesses in Georgia and founded three suc cessful companies in south Georgia, creating more than 100 jobs in the state. Senator Kirk, a native Georgian, received his Mas ter’s Degree in Psychol ogy from Troy State University. Greg Kirk was a member of the Geor gia State Senate from 2014 until his death. He rep Sen. Greg Kirk resented the 13th Dis trict which is composed of Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Lee, Tift, Turner, Worth and parts of Sumter and Wilcox counties. He was a member of the Republican Party. The late senator was a member of the Appro priations Committee, member of the Health and Human Services Committee, and Sec retary of the Insurance and Labor Committee. Sen. Greg Kirk served as Chairman of the Committee on State & Local Governmental Operations.
