The Led County Ledger Your Hometown Source Of Local News Hometown Newspaper of Andy and Crystal Cherry Volume XLVI- Number 37 Leesburg, Georgia - - June 12, 2024 Fifty Cents Lee County High School Valedictory Address Special to the Ledger By Christina Tillis Good evening es teemed faculty, staff, administrators, proud families and friends from near and far, and most importantly fellow gradu ates! I am Christina Michelle Tillis, the Valedic torian of the Class of 2024. Today, we close the window of ado lescence to open a window for oppor tunity and potential. Today, we start a new beginning to how we want to live the rest of our lives. Today, we stand on the precipice of the future, a future that is shaped by the choices we make and the actions we take. I have a little word of advice, a mantra if you will, to guide you through these next steps in life: "The Beginning is Always Today" It is a call to action, signifying that every day is an op portunity to start anew. Let us carry this mantra in our minds because today is the only day we can truly influence. If you have ever been to the front of our alma mater, you have seen the large sign that reads “School of Excellence”. Our time in High School has shaped us to strive for excellence in ev ery aspect of our lives. Whether that be aca demics, sports, clubs, or the arts. While those parts of our lives have come to a close, we can reinvent and start a new beginning, using all we have learned during our tenure at High School to further pursue our drive for ex cellence. You represent excel lence. You have the power to make your new begin ning mean some thing. And You are capa ble of starting that new beginning today. My task today was to present a farewell speech. I wanted to list some farewells for high school. Farewell to bell schedules, to 25 minute lunches, to bathroom passes, to Friday Vocab Quizzes, to Dress Code, and to Block days! On a more somber note, farewell to friends, to your favorite teacher, to the class period you looked forward to going to every day, to shared laughs with classmates, to exciting hallway con versations, and to those people who always made your day better. As we say Farewell to all aspects of high school, we must remem ber that today is the official beginning of a new chapter in our lives. You have the power to make a change in your lives at this moment. Whether that may be to change your hair color, start new relationships, or pursue an unconven tional career path, never wait until tomorrow to start anew, do it right now! Decide to make a change in your life at this moment. Decide to make this moment your beginning. You know, the funny thing about free will is that you never know your own potential until you take your free will into your own hands. You have the power to do anything you put your mind to, so never let your mind stop you from reaching your fullest potential. In the case you decide to make a significant change in your life, know that your high school classmates are your corner support ing you. Thank you so much to everyone in this room for supporting each and every one of us as we start our beginnings today. Thank you in advance Class of 2024 for all the beginnings I know you will start to achieve excellence. I hope you can take this little phrase of advice that my mother, who is always in my corner, tells me, “Never put off until tomorrow what you can do Today”. And if no one told you today that they are proud of you, I am proud of you. Class President, Out!
