vention of the 9th Masonic District.
They report a nice time.
Last Monday morning Mrs. Fannie
Furr aged lady was found dead in her
bed. She was staying with her Son
in-law’ James Ray. She seemed to be
in as good health the day before and
that night as usual, hut when morn
ing came hot spir’t had been sum
moned to meet its God.

the colums of your paper to say to
the voters of Banks county that I will
not be a candidate for re-election to
the office of county Surveyor at the
ensuing election. Thanking the people
their support in the past. I hope the
Democrats of tbe county will select

Last Thursday in company with ny
friend, Dr. Cochran, we left Homer
en route to Monroe to attend tile
Masonic Convention of the 9th Ala
sonic district. We boarded the train
at Lula for Gainesville, and from
there to Monroe. We arrived safe
about fo ir o’clock p. in. iVc were
met at the depot by quiteja n-mberof
Monroe’s best citizens vho’fissiirod in,
we were more t/'fin welcome to their
little city. From the depot we were
conducted to the law office of Napier
& Cox where homes were assigned us
We were taken in charge by Dr
Cook who is a very prosneros mer
chant, a man ot fine intellect and one
of Walton’s best citizens. He was
Ordinary [for several years. While
there we met quite a number of peo
nle whose kindness to us will ever be
field sacred in our memory.
The convention was a success in
every respect What was clone and
said is interesting only to the brethren
of the mistic ti“. On Friday we at
tended a barbecue which was gotten
up expresslly for us, and what we did
for it was sufficient proof to any fair
minded man that we enjoyed and ap
preciated that royal feast. That
evening about five o’clock p. in. we
left Monroe for Gainesville where we
sp nt the night with Mr. Simrrons
who >8 a candidate for Treasurer of
Hall county, ard while our acquaint
ance is very much limited we feel safe
in saying, if proven to be tbo choice
of the people he will make them a
true faithful and efficient officer.
Now in conclusion: to the good peo
ple of Monroe, and especially Dr.
Cook and las nire family, we would
say we appreciate the kindness shown
ns and only trust that some day we
may be able to remunerate you in
giving that which we have received
Trusting that if we should never meet
in the Lodge room here on earth
again we may some day meet each
in the Celestial lodge above whre the
Grand Master of the u iverse pre
