Mrs. Bob Smith. The scripture
was read by Sydney Moody, after
which a discussion was held on
“Self Control.”

Mrs. A. W. Blumberg has re-
turned from that tour she went
on of visiting doctors all over the
country. Her four sons, all of whom
are doctors, each received a visit
from their mother. As Mrs. Blum-
berg just got in last night I have-
n't had a chance to talk to her but
I'm sure that she could tell me
much that would interest you as
wel las me.
She visited A. W. and his wife
in Williamsport, Pa., Joe and his
wife in Baltimore, Mac and his
wife in Boston, and Dicky in Nash-
ville. Among other things which
happened to her on the trip, pro-
bibly the most notable was that
she acquired a granddaughter
while visiting Mac and his wife.
Dr. and Mrs. A. W. brought her
back from Williamsport as far as
Nashville where Dicky is intern-
ing at Vanderbilt Hospital. I
know that in her travels Mrs.
Blumberg has become acquainted
with everybody worth knowing be-
tween here and all the cities she
visited.
All Cantonians will learn with
deep regret of the illness of Mrs.
O. C. Omer, who for many years
lived at Hotel Canton. Mrs. Omer
was ill at her home in Acworth for
several weeks and is now at Wes-
ley Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
The sincere wish of Canton people
is that Mrs. Omer will soon be well
again.

she may not have amassed any
greater total than five because
when you think about it there
aren't many more than that!
I was about to interview a ce-

her. Edith Foster, of Carrollton,

of the Canton High School but

because of illness in her family.
She is a poet, having published
one book and is now at work on
another. Her book "Beside the

year and was given favorable
comments by critics and by the
press. Too bad she couldn't stay—
maybe we'll draw another one.

Homemakers Class Plans
Picnic Friday Afternoon
The Homemakers Class of the
Baptist Sunday School will have a
picnic on Friday afternoon, Sept. 29,
at 3 o'clock at Groves Park. All
members are invited to attend.
One Jasper lad, going home af-
ter a date with one Canton girl
was riding along so peacefully ov
er on the Ball Ground Highway
when he heard a commotion in the
back seat. He looked around and
there was Etowah! Due to his
friendly nature, someday Etowah
is going to wake up in strange
surroundings and the town would
suffer a distinct loss.
He is one of the most ardent of
the Bowling Center fans. And he
plays quite a game of golf too.
When the ball goes in the creek,
Etowah jumps in and gets it—of
course he chews it up but he does
get it—but as long as the ball is
in the fairway or on the greens
he never bothers it. That's more
sense than some people have.
Canton may lose one of its more
prominent citizens to the Missouri
Methodist Conference soon. 'Tis be-
ing widely rumored!
