Hughes punted on fourth down to midfield and Ranburne returned to the Can- ton 40. Ranburne slung a long pass. Chatham interfered with the re- ceiver and Ranburne was given the ball at that point. Ranburne’s ball on the Canton 28, 1st and 10. Alabama eleven’s pass incom- plete. Farlow made six over tackle. Jones’ pass failed to connect. On fourth down Ranburne got two yards failing to make a first down by a narrow margin. Ball went over to Canton. Canton line failed to hold and Greenies lost five yards. Robert Hughes made eight yards off tackle. Goss in for Youngblood. On third down Goss punted to the Ranburne forty and it was returned 30 yards to the Canton thirty. Ranburne lost a yard on the first play. Canton was penalized five yards on the next play for illegal substitution. Jones made two yards around end and then made a first down on the next play by ramming cen- ter to the 17 yard line. Jones then slung a pass to Hart, who was completely uncovered, for the touchdown. Extra point was no good and Greenies led 18 to 6. Ranburne kicked to the Canton 10 and Bell returned 30 yards to the Canton 40 yard line. Canton was penalized heavily in the play for clipping. Garner made a first down on the first play. Fain made four yards on off tackle slant. Curtis passed to Goss over center for a first down. Ranburne penalized on next play making it 1st and 10 on the Canton 47 yard line. Curtis tried a pass to Goss but it was in- complete. Curtis picked up a yard at tackle. Curtis again threw an incomplete forward pass. Greenies tried another pass Garner to Bell which was perfect but Bell dropped it. Ball went over to Ranburne on the Canton 47. Canton intercepted a first down pass as the ball game ended. Score Canton 18, Ran- burne 6.
