PAGE EIGHT NORTH GEORGIA TRIBUNE FRIDAY, OCT. 20, 1939 Resolutions On Forrester Death Resolutions to the fourth quart- erly conference. Holly Springs charge. Hickory Flat Church, on the death of Bro. J. P. Forrester. We, the committee appointed to prepare resolutions on the passing of Bro. J. P. Forrester, who depart- ed this life. May 12, 1929, after a brief illness. He was born May 23, 1854, in Greenville County, S. C., joined the church at an early age and moved to Georgia in the late eighties and united with the Hick- ory Flat Methodist Church June 27, 1890. He served as supt. of the church school and trustee of church property for several years and was faithful to the church till his health failed. He leaves a wife, fourteen chil- dron, several grandchildren, one brother and many other relatives to mourn his passing. Be it resolved that in the death of Bro. Forrester, this quarterly conference has lost a valuable member and the church its oldest member. The community has lost an honored and upright citizen and he will be missed most in the home and by his family. Be it further resolved that this quarterly conference express to the bereaved family of this deceased brother, our sincere sympathy in this hour of their greatest sorrow, and pray that the comforting of God’s spirit be theirs and that He will keep each one in the right path as they may be a reunited family in that bright world above where no sin or sorrow can enter. Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be placed upon the minutes of this conference and a copy presented to the sorrowing family, and a copy presented the North Georgia Tribune with the re- quest that it be published. T. V. FORRESTER H. 0. THOMAS D. C. HALEY Committee Roy Cox, recording steward. Parted from Jackie Think o’ That J. W. Perry Is (Continued from page 1) to permit police to hold any car suspected of use in lottery, for ten days to 30 days. Lawyers tell me this is plain violation of the Bill of Rights. It is strange, then, how far those we trust with law enforcement will violate the law to set a trap for criminals. In this the city of At- lanta is jeopardizing the rights of all innocent persons. A police officer who for business or personal reasons, wants to in- jure a man or a business, merely has to suspect cars of lottery rack- et connections. Then he can im- pound the car for 30 days, on the plea that the car may be registered improperly. Praised by Board It doesn't matter how wrong a thing is, officers have no right to violate public liberties to correct it. There is a right way to do anything that is right. A slogan up in the furniture de- partment of Jones Mercantile Company, hung there by Lester Ponder, says: "Nothing in the world is worth doing wrong for." City Attorney Jack Savage of Atlanta, gave it as his opinion that the ordinance permitting police to impound cars on suspicion is un- lawful. Despite that, council pas- sed it and as this was written the Mayor "was expected to sign it." Resolutions to the fourth quar- terly conference. Holly Springs charge. Hickory Flat Church, on the death of Bro. J. W. Perry. We, your committee appointed to prepare resolutions on the death of Bro. J. W. Perry who departed this life July 13, 1939, after a ling- ering illness. He was always hopeful and cheerful and never heard to murmur. He was born April 23, 1874.. He joined the Hickory Flat Church August 30, 1913, served as a steward and trus- tee for twenty years and was faithful to attend church and quar- terly conference until declining health made it impossible for him to do so. He leaves a companion, one son, three daughters, several grand- children, two brothers, two sisters and a host of other relatives. Be it resolved in the passing of Bro. J. W. Perry, this conference has lost a valuable member, that his presence will be missed at our quarterly meeting. The communi- ty has lost an upright and honor- able citizen and his family has been deprived of one whose con- stant thought was their happiness and well being, and his friends have lost a wise counselor. Be it resolved further that this quarterly conference express to the bereaved family our deepest sym pathy and share with them the sor row which is now theirs and we pray that the Heavenly Father may bless and guide each of his family through life and at last bring them a reunited family in that bright world above where there will be no more sorrow or sad partings. Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be spread on the minutes of this conference, a copy presented to the family, and a copy sent to the Norh Georgia Tribune with the request that it be published.
