People I Know By BLANCHE JONES ADVICE TO THE DREAMER Chesta Holt Fulmer Dreams are fragile, lovely things. Mental butterflies; Wear no mourning, shed no tears When a dream child dies. It was not reality. Dreams do not abide. They are daisy chains of thought To wear—and toss aside. Never let them rule your heart And leave it to vain sorrow; Throw a kiss to passing dreams- And dream again tomorrow. Along with other cities through- out the state. Canton is planning beautiful decorations for homes and business houses during the holidays. Parts of the residential section have always been gaily lighted for the holiday season but this year housewives will have an added incentive to beautify their homes. The Etowah Garden Club will sponsor a contest to select the most effectively decorated home in the city and three prizes will be given to those which are selected. The decorations do not have to be elaborate but will be judged ac- cording to their appropriateness to the house. The judging will be done from the outside of the house but inside decorations, as they show to the outside, will be includ- ed in the judging. The prizes are $5.00 for the most effective, $3.00 for the second and $2.00 for the third. The judging will take place during the week be- fore Christmas, but it is hoped that the decorations will be up long be- fore then. Adding another festive note will be the Lions Club yule tree which is an annual beauty spot in the city park. The Lions planted the tree several years ago and each year decorated it with many vari- colored lights as evidence of their civic spirit and pride. Plans are being formulated for all the merchants of the city to join in the spirit of things this year with community lights in the business district. All cities sur- rounding us will have them and it is only fitting that Canton should Continued on Page 8 Lucille Cox Weds Clay Andrews In Quiet Ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cox an- nounce the marriage of their daughter, Lucille, to Clay Andrews, on October 24.
