Tho survey of the A. & B. posses
through the Dooly county campground
which is about three miles abovo this
,'ity. This will undoubtedly mean a
big thing for tho railroad and quite an
nccommodation for the hundreds of
people in this and surrounding coun
ties who attend tho Dooly cninpmeot-
ing every year, if tho road should be
fluilt on this route. Picnic excursions
would be a frequent thing along the
road to tho campground mid once they
try the cool Bhades and refreshing
spring water at tlie campground they
will bo certain to go again. Now, come
together with us Montezuma and Oor-
delo, so that wo will all have a cheap
and convenient way to attend the good
old Dooly oounty campmeeting.
"Our hustling young friend Adkins,
over nt that little town Vienna, must
have lmd a good bate of sour grapes
lately. Hear him: ‘The fact that
Cordelo don't want us to get another
railroad shows plainly that this town
amounts to something, .and they don't
want us to have a fair showing.’
Cordelo News
We are certain of one thing Bro.
McKenzie, and that is when we
get n good thing we are not of that
selfish disposition to try to keep our
neighbor from doing likewise, in
trying to boycot such on enterprise
by circulating a petition among our
people. The News is tor Vienna
ijrat but does not care how many
railroads and other enterprises that
Cordete secures. Cun you say this
much for our "little town?”

-liurrub for Tencell. Snap.,
Mr. Editor: You invite “an arti
cle on some subject of public interest
in every Saturday's papor.” In re
sponse, I will through your columns
call attention of tho good people of
Dooly county to some matters of vital
concern to us all. This week I will
simply give some facts to be followed
later by some inferences from those
facts.
On the afternoon of March 37th, a
secret meeting of the representatives
of tho Louisville Whiskey interests was
held in the Galt Honso, in Louisville,
Ky. On the following day the Courier-
Journal published a leughty report of
this meeting, and the plans and pur
poses-of the whiskey manufacturers
and Jobbers who composed the meeting.
From this report we learn that
“Tlie association will be a national
organization. It will have headquar
ters in Louisville, and will be supported
by a fund to which the distilling and
liquor Jobbing interests of the entire
country nre expected to contribute. It is
understood that tho organization will
have unlimited financial backing, for
representatives of tlie trade every
where are taking a deep interest in the
movement, and have already author
ized the promoters of the organization
to call on them for funds. The money
will be used in employing speakers to
conduct campaigns in states where the
the prohibitionists are strong; in dis
tributing printed matter, in employing
statisticians and writers on eeonomio
subjects and anti-prohibition argu
ments particularly."
Note this I ‘ ‘Tlie money will be used
to conduct campaigns instates where
the prohibitionists ore strong."
The Courier-JournaJ goes on to say,
from the information received from
one of the representatives of tho whis
key interest;
"Tho organization will bo powerful
and will have plenty of financial book
ing. For instance, wo hove received
numerous letters from distilling con
cerns offering us $100, $200, $400 $500 a
year for a period of five years. None of
these concerns are large. Concerns
witli more capital will give more
money."
The paper futlior, states that "the
special aim of the organization will be
to show the people in some states,
where the prohibition movement is
especially strong, thefsllacy of their
question."
Now, Mr. Editor, where is there a
state in whloh the prohibition move
ment is stronger than in Georgia?
When was there a time in Georgia pol
itics when a vast corruption fund could
be used to greater advantage than just
now? Does it not look a little bit as
if this Louisville liquor movement was
timed just to meet the exigencies of
the liquor traffic here in Georgia just
as we are boginning to got the monster
by the throat ond throttlo him in the
white primaries?
What if white we are complacently
dreaming thnt we are managing our
own affairs there is a wide spread con
spiracy of unprincipled men, backed
by unlimited millions, to take matters
out of the hands of the people of Geor
gia and manipulate our elections to
suit the Interest of foreign corpora
tions!
Is there any danger of our being
tripped up? AVe shall see.
