The Bureau of Navigation has is
sued orders to all Navy Recruiting
Stations to make a special drive for
recruits in that Branch, and to suc
cessfully do this we fully realize the
importance of asking the assktance
of the Newspapers in so far as con
sistent with their daily routine of
business. We 'are not permitted to
run printed advertisements, and a
ruling of that sort almost makes it
obligatory on us to request the pa
pers to carry something in the nature
of a news item that will answer the
purpose and at the same time prove
very beneficial to those of their sub
scribers desirous of voluntarily en
listing into the Navy. The Navy is
now offering some splendid opportu
nities to all men between the ages of
eighteen and thirty-five years inclus
ive, and they can now volunteer into
that branch irrespective of whether
or not they registered on June 6th in
the Selective service act All that is
necessary for the applicant to do k to

The Navy has fast filled up with
mighty fine fellow^ and the majority
of them arc southern boys. Wherev

all are well pleased with the branch
