Spengler, of Boston district, spent yesterday in the city. The officers arc putting the Guards through a rigid course of drilling. The boys arc learning the step. Remember that every nickel or dime paid over Mr. Schmid’s counter, on Friday, goes to the Pennsylvania sufferers. Mr. Simon Hertz, of Montgomery, Ala., who has been spending some time with his. sister, Mrs. N. Wolfl ( has returned home. Mr. S. B. Burr, of the Times-En- TEitrRisE, returned yesterday morn ing from a short business trip to points in Florida. Mr. C. M. Chase is erecting two very handsome private residences in Fletcherville, for the Wolff Bros. They will be models of convenience and a handsome improve nent to that portion of our city. Thomasville is taking her breath, so to speak. She will take a fresh hold on the car of progress this fall Aud then things will hum. We can almost hear the clatter of the wheels Messrs I. Levy & Co. give notice that they want 50,000 pounds of wool, and they propose to pay the very high est market price for it. Thomasville merchants are determined not to be overbid on this staple, and when you have wool for sale bring it to Thom- asville. The Daily Times-Enterprise should find a welcome in every house hold in Thomasville. We are doiug our best to give the town n live paper and it is but fair that our efforts should recive some little encourage ment from every one in the town. The Thomasville nud Albany col. ored base ball clubs played a match game at their grounds beyond Para dise Park Tuesday afternoon. A large crowd was present. Owing to a disagreement the game was called before the nine innings were finished and the game given to the home team by a score of nino to nothing. Mr. John W. Mitchell will leave about July 1st for New York, where he will take a place with Mr. Joseph Pike’s Son, 98 Park Row, a promi nent commission merchant of the metropolis. Mr. Pike has had a good share of the shipments of pears from this section, and he has given good returns. Mr. Mitchell will give his personal attention to shipments given his house. At the last meeting of the Georgia Medical Association, Dr. T. M. Mc Intosh was clcctod a delegate to the American Medical Association, which will conveuo at Newport, R. I., June 25th. We are glnd to lenrn that Dr. McIntosh will most probably attend the meeting. The American Medical Association numbers amoug its mem bers the foremost men in the profes sion, .and the approaching meeting will be a particularly interesting one- The Daily Times-Enterprise is a fair reflex of the current events of the day, at home aud abroad, aud a faithful sentinel, watching and guard ing, to the best of its ability, the inter ests of Thomasville and its people. Aud is it not fair, equitable aud just, that every citizen of the town should give it their support? Still Improving. In a conversation with one of our nromincut contractors yesterday, we learn that there is in course of con struction, and in sight, about $75,000 worth of buildiugs to be erected in Thomnsvillc this summer. There arc at this time in course of erection from 12 to 15 private residences, ranging in price Irom $2,000 to $4,000. In view ot the fact that Thomasville put in improvements last year something over $150,000, this is a good showing, and - gives evidence of a healthy growth. To Mathematicians. Prot. Wright, of the South Georgia has handed us a problem, which ap pears elsewhere, and to which the at tention of all who are up in “figgers” is called. A few years since the Pro fessor submitted it to five hundred pupils, only two of whom worked it out correctly. Cannot some pupils in the South Georgia College or Young Female College solve the problem? Try it. A Bad Day for Foxes. The Hooker brothers, and Mr. James Richardsou, near Leb, after suffering the loss of something like a hundred chickens from the foxes, de clared war on them, and Monday morning started to make their decla ration good. The first morning they caught one, that night they caught four, and the next morning two more, making seven in all. — -^».». ■. Caught His Finger. Yesterday afternoon about 2 o’clock, Mr. Cicero Wetlierington, who works at the Thomasville \ a- riety Works, had the third, finger on his right hand caught in a part of the machinery. It was cut off between the nail aud the first joint. Dr. Me Intosli dressed the wound. FOR RENT, Tho Episcopal Rectory, oil McLean Avc. nue. Possession given at once. Apply to Rev. C. I. LaKochk, tf.
