An Experimental Farm.
It is understood that the South
Georgia College of this place receives
82000 from the State University, the
same being a part of land scriy fund
given by the General Government
some years ago, with which to start
and run an experimental farm. The
appropriation is given for a specific
purpose, and ought to be givin to
that purpose. An experimental farm
on a scale, and k could not lie, other
wise with this small appropriation,
would be of great benefit to the farm
ers of South Georgia since it would
enable the to judge more correctly of
the merits of different kinds of com
mercial manures, and would deter
mine what ingredients are needed by
the different kinds of soil found in
this sections. It is the intention of
the Trustees of the college to start
the experimental farm as soon as
practicable.
Tho New Jail.
The Board of County Commission

Tiie gentlemen of the Board are sa

and they realize fully that it is more
important to get a good jail than to
get a cheap one. A building of this
sort is built for half a century, and
ought to he first class in all respects.
