Burglars Again.
A burglar, or burglars, entered
the residence of Mrs. S. H. L. Mash,
a widow lady, who, together with her
daughter, Mrs. Chaires, resides in East
End, on Friday night. The family
were in the front rooms of the house,
when the burglar, thinking the coast
clear, entered the kitchen, which con
nects with the pantry. A few minutes
later, Mrs. Mash, in locking up the
house, unknowingly locked the burglar
in the kitchen; but he unfortunately
escaptd,after securing a small quantity
of lard, floor and meat. The burglar
next made his appearance at Capt.
Sam. Moore's Miss Bessie, his
daughter, saw the sash being lifted,
the fingers of a negro raising it. She
gave the alarm, and the family, on
investigating, found where a barrel had
been placed on the ground, under the
window; but the burglar had escaped.
A Very Narrow Esoape.
A white man—a stranger here—
was knocked down twice yesterday
afternoon while making two unsuc
cessful attempts to board the fast mail
from Savnunah, as it was going out
for Chattahoochee. As the train was
somewhat behind tiino, it was running
at a high rate of spcea at the time,
and to those looking on, it seemed
almost impossible that themau should
escape unhurt, after being knocked
twice almost under the very wheels of
the cars. ,
We wero unablo to learn his name,
for, after being unsuccessful in board
ing the train, no got up and followed
