Governor Gordon Acts.
The death of Mr. Davis has stirred
all the latent feeling and smouldering
love which the southern people have
always had for the illustrious dead.
Gov. Gordon lias issued the follow
ing :
I respectfully suggest that the gov
ernors of the southern states, by pro
clamation, invite the people of their
respective states to assemble at the
hour to be appointed for the funeral
of Mr. Davis, and join in suitable
memorial services.
J. 13. GORDON, Governor.
Headquarters’
United Confederate Veterans,
Atlanta, Ga., Dec. 6, 1889.
The associations, bivouacs and
camps and all friends of ex-confede
rate veterans are invited to unite on
the day of the funeral of Mr. Davis in
raising a fu ;d for his widow and
daughter. John 13. Gordon,
Governor.
It ought to he considered a privilege
for every ex-confederate to contribute
something to the wife and the daugh
ter of the confederacy. Miss Winnie
is now in Europe, and to her the s.id
news of her fathers’ death has been
cabled by sympathetic friends.
The south will take care of the
widow and her orphaned child.

CASH GROCERIES,
While not in the ring yet, are in town
by a large majority, and can point to
friends nnd acquaintances in nearly
every household in Thomasville. Are
you one of its friends? ff not, make
it’s acquaintance at once, for it will
save you money. It’s competitors
will, sometimes,—when you stand by
and make them do so—meet it’s prices,
hut just as soon as you quit watching
them they will charge you the same
old-time prices. Send and get it’s
prices and compare them with your
book, and don't fail to find out how
much more it’s competitors charge for
Raisins, Currants, Citron, etc., for
making your fruit caKc than it does.
Respectfully, \*
M. P. fttCKETT.
We still keep up the racket of sell
ing for lower prices than was ever
known in Thomasville for fine milline
ry. The past month is our best. We
can only explain it by the truths set
forth in this space .every week. We
claim to sell the best goods at least
prices and are prepared to back up
the assertion.
Money saved is made. 25c., 50c,
