N l'he road commissioners of the coun ty, upon invitation, met with^this board and had a general discussion *of the road subject and an interchange^ of ideas from which may be expected an improve ment in the system of working the' pub lic roads. The roads generally were reported in bad condition throaghout the county. The use of ~ the convict la bor on the roads seemed to be the most popular .plan. Printing of proceedings Of commis sioners awarded Times- Enterprise for '$50.00 per annum, theirs being the lowest bid, to take effect April 1st next. R. T. Hicks was elected janitor for court bouse. W”. A. Pringle appointed to audit sher iff’s books. Monthly report of county .physician: Healthful conditions prevail at jail and poor house. Miring on other streets, taps, etc. 188.10 of supplies and furnishings on hand'the first of January, 1903, inventoxy $360, and at the corresponding date in 1902 supplies and farnishings on hand amounted to $179.28. It is submitted that there lias been a saving of from $1,000 to $1,200 in the wood account of the year 1902 as against the year 1901. It will he remembered ! that this saving has keen made, not withstanding the costs of wood per cord 1 is considerably greater than heretofore. It will also be noticed that there lias; been a saving of from $300 to $400 in 1 the item of expense lor repairs. Mr. Mayor;—In the matter of the bill for opening sewer for Mrs. Eppiy, referred to the water committee, we beg leave to report that the case is so com plicated as to responsibility .that we are unable to say who should pay the hill. McCaslin, of New York, gave sever al selections and Miss Black of Nash-, ville, Tenn., sang. This, together with the regular orchestra concert, made a very enojyable program. Death of Edward Strawbridge. It is with genuine sorrow that the Times-Enterpriae chronicles the death of Mr. Edward Strawbridge, which oc curred in this city recently. Mr. Straw- bridge was ill when he came to Thomas- villc and never regained his health. He lingered for some time but finally suc cumbed to the disease, pneumonia. Mr. Strawbridge was the oldest son of Mr. G. O. Strawbridge 1 and was associ ated with him in business. He was 87 years of age at the 'time of his death, and leaves a wife and family to mourn Ins loss. The remains were sent to his home in Moores Town, New Jersey, and his funeral took plaice there on Tuesday. Mr. Strawbridge was s well known visitor to Thomasville where he spen- the winter season.
