Wingate Peacock of Climax was a guest of the Stuart House yesterday. Dr. Louis Frank of Milwaukee is in the city and will spend some time here. B. W. Davis, Jr., of Camilla, was here yesterday and was a guest of the Stuart House. One of the most pleasant events of the week, was’the card party given by Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Clifton and Mrs. Lillian Finn, on Thursday evening. The affair was in honor of Miss Zoe Mansfield and Miss Felice Mansfield. These two charm ing young ladies are nieces of Mrs, Clif ton and are spendipg some time as her guests in tliis city. The rainy weather made the warmth and beauty of the rooms inside, the more attractive and the evening was a most enjoyable one. 4 There were ten tables of six-handed euchre, and the prizes were unusually handsome. Dr. J. T. Culpepper and Miss Daisy Scott, carried off the first prizes. Mr. M. B. Wheeler and Miss Nell Pringle the lone hand prizes and Miss Edwina Williams the consolation prize. The house was handsomely decorated, elegant re freshments were served, and genuine hospitality and good cheer made the evening delightful. The people who like to do terpsiclio- rean stunts will have ample opportunity to indulge in their favorite amusement during the coming month. There be a dance at the Mitchell House on Thursday evening. As both the hotels are well filled and there are a number of visitors in town the dance will be one of the largest of the season. 1 —;— Miss Margaret Gardiner returned to her home in Columbus yesterday morn ing, after spending some time as the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. L. Turner, in this city. Miss Gardiner is one of the most popular young ladies who visits this city, and her friends will regret to N leam of her departure.
