He is “one of the boys” when*with the boys. He has a stock of good stories culled from the four corners of the country. He has a quick wit, is good at repartee, and altogether, is xftighty good company. They are telling a good story about the congressman, Mr/. J. O. The application for injunction filed by the Georgia Southern & Florida railway 1 , preventing the transfer off^the Tifton, Thomasville & Gulf railway to the At lantic & Birmingham railway company, has been withdrawn by the plaintiffs. A temporary restraining order was granted by Judge Robert G. Mitchell cu November 2nd, and the motion was to have been argued before him’here on Nov. 27th. The application for injunc tion was made by Hall & Wimberly of Macon, and Lawton and Cunningham of Savannah,.representing the Georgia Southern aed Florida railroad. ^ The G. 8. and F. stated that in Order that the T. T. and G. might obtain its franchise 25 per cent of the stock was made over to the former road. They a 1 so claimed that they had a reserved right as preferred purchasers and that the T. T. and G. railroad was bound to give them/the first opportunity to pur chase the remainder of the stock/ if at any time the road changed hands. This was not done by the majority stock Holders, in the case of the transfer to the Atlantic and Birmingham, the bill stated. The application having been with drawn fie merger will proceed as origi« nally planned. The stock owned by the Georgia Southern and Florida has been sold to-Messr^. T. Jefferson Coolidge of Boston and H. M. Atkinson of Atlanta. Mr. Coolidge is president of the Old Colony Trust Company and Mr. Atkin son is his personal representative in the South. They are the gentlemen who have been in control of the Tifton, Thomasville and Gulf railway since its organization, and by their purchase of the G.' S. & F’s stock, the difference be tween the roads lias been adjusted and to the transfer have been Mr.. C. E. Russell of Metcalfe, was in town shopping recently. . Dr. J. R. Mr. Griggs has been importuned to change the dog’s name to Hearst, or William oy- Randolph. Joseph, the Israelite had a coat of many colors, bnt Joseph the Democratic canine is now a dog of one name. The merger has practically been con summated already and the roads {have been operated under the one manage ment for several months. The formal transfer will be made on December 3rd; It was planned to make this transfer on November 2nd and officials from the two roads were here on that date, bnt the restraining order interfered! At that time adjournment was taken until De cember 3rd, and the completion of the merger will be the order of the day. The friends of Mr. Ohas. Davis were glad to see him on the streets for a short time Monday. He. is still very weak from his severe illness. A.Searle and P. Gurmondc of Council Bluffs, Iowa, were in the city yesterday with a view to possibly enter ing the syrap business here. They are syrup manufacturers on a large scale in their home state, and the product that they manufacture sells for some 35 cents per gallon. However, on the 500 acres that'they have planted in Iowa they are able to obtain only from a third to a half as much as could be gotten from an equal acreage here. The gentlemen visited Cairo and other points of interest in the connty and it is altogether possible that, they may decide to locate here./• Their pres ence in Thomasville with up-to-date methods of manufacture woold mean much to the city.
