jlwm-SHttlsliT Enterprise. LOCAL. TUESDAY, JUNE 95, IM7. *r ■■■■■.,■ —rgr-rt-'; z=s ANNIVERSARY OP ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST. The Masonic Fraternity ol Thom nsrille celebrated yesterday, the anni versary of this patron Saint, marching in procession to the Court House, where an oration was delivered by Robert H. Harris, Esq., upon the ori gin and character of the Order, and closed with a splendid dinner at Young’s Hotel. Many visiting brei thren were present and participated, and the affair passed off pleasantly in good order. The Deputy Grand Mas ter failed to reach Thomasville in time to deliver the address, by reason of mistake in the route from Savannah, and took the Live Oak branch at Number Twelve. This led him into Florida, and through by Monticello, where be procured private conveyance to Thomasville, arriving late in the evening. 11c is announced, however, to deliver an address at the Court House to-day, at eleven o’clock. BURGLARY. On Friday night last, the Gun and Pistol Manufactory of Mr. J. 0- Hodg kins, on Jefforson Street, was entered by burglars and serefal pistols and a number of smaller articles carried off. The thieves commenced boring around the fastenings of a front window, but being on the sidewalk were doubtless frightened off, and changed to the rear of the building, where they succeeded in opening a window. Not long since the storehouse of Mr. Greenfield, and a few days later, the Confectionary of Mr. T. J. McLain, were robbed by thieves, who burrowed through the hearths of the chimneys attached to both houses. This housobreaking Ims been so fre quent as to become alarming, and wo hope there will be more vigilance on the part of the police. Hints have been thrown cut of an organised band of colored burglars now infesting the town, and should rccoivc the attention of the proper officers All men, whe ther white or .black, who are known to subsist without employment or visible means of support, are legitimate ob jects of suspicion. t&*By mistake, No. .‘1 of Hon. 15. 11. Hill’s ‘‘Notes on the Situation,” was set up first, and therefore appears in our columns to-day instead of No. 1.
