MY PRAYER.
Oh give me the joy of living,
And some glorious work to do;
A spirit of thanksgiving.
With lojal heart and true;
Some pathway to make brighter,
Where tired feet now stray;
Some burden »o make lighter
While 'tis day! s
lu the fields of the Master’s gleaning,
May my heart and hands be strong;
Let me know' life's deepest meaning,
| fcLet me sing life’s sweetest song:
With some faithful hearts to love me,
Let me nobly do my best;
And at last, with heaven above me,
Let me rest I

COMPARATIVE FIGURES.
The collections for the first quarter of
the fiscal year were $ 13,078.1)3. This
is about $300 in excess of the same
quarter last year. However, last year
the collection was $200 more than that
of the corresponding period of the prev
ious year. Inference: thirf year we
have not dono as well as last year. Wc
should have inado an increase of dvor
$200 in the collection to maintain the
standard cf progress,
.DISTRICT CONFERENCE.
The Home and Foreign District Con
ferences that have convened during the
past month have been better attended
thou ever before.
The reports from delegates liavo been
most encouraging—showing more zeal
aud activity, and greater spiritual force
among those that are laboring to ostab
lish the Lord’s Kingdom in oar home
land aud those beyond the seas. The
echo of each conference was, “To God
we givo all tho praise.” x
NORTH GEORGIA SCHOLARSHIP.
Miss Maj belle Marshall, of Home,
Ga,, has been awarded the North Geor
gia scholarship for Deaconess’ training
the Scarritt Bible and Training
School. Kansas City, and goes ■ this
week to enter that school. We are glad
to have a North Georgia young lady to
accipt^this scholarship, and believe it is
in answer to our prayers for more
trained workers.
SOME.QUESTIONS.
What salary can a Doacouo«ses com
mand? Our deaconess could command
anywhere from $300 to $5,000 a,' year,
but it is a characteristic of the work
that Deaconesses give up their right to
a salary, knowing that while much
work mast still be done with a salary,
there is so much to do that salaried Li
bor* will never accomplish the whole.
Bat Deaconesses aro comfortably sup
ported while in the work aud arc prom
ised support in sickness or old age. I
What- then is the attraction in Dea
coness work?
The k consciousness of doing for
God work that would otherwise be
wholly unreached, Then the Deacon-
ness, while doing her work, has a
Christian home, and she stands shoul
der to shoulder with a devoted com
pany of congenial women.

South Georgia Graduates of Maroar
Plan to Organise Hero.
During the coming session of the
Mercer Baptist Association, an alumni
association of the graduates of M«rcer
University, the Baptist school at Macon
will be formed. It is very appropriate
that an association bearing the same
name as the oollege should wituess the
organization of an alumni sooiety. There
aro many graduates of the school in this
seotiouofthe state and the sociotywill
be numerically strong. Ail the minis
ters of the association will be honorary
members and a buquet at one of tho ho
tels here next month will probably be
tho initial function of the organization.
