Saturday afternoon Albert Darla,
the little son of Mr. Q. W. Davie started
out for a limiting trip with a young com
panion. Ae he was leaving the yard of
his lather’s residence a few miles from
town, ono of tho gmu was accidentally
fired off and the load of shot strnck
yoqng Davis in the arm making * severe
wound. He was immediately brought
to the oity hospital and operated upon
at eight o'otnok last night by Dr. B. A.
Daniels. Amputation was not neoessary
and unless trouble eats in, he will not
lore his. arm.

Ono of the principal society events of
the week was the marriage of Mire Hat
tie Mash to Mr. J. Wayne Mocre of
Montgomery lost Wednesday afternoon.
Tho event was witnsssed by about
twenty five of the relatives and inti
mate friends of the bride and groom.
The house was beautifully decorated' in
palms, ferns and southern smllax and
presented a most attractive appeonnoe.
Promptly at 1:80 the bridal party en
tered tbo parlor to the strains of the
wedding march played by Miss Blanche
Ainsworth. The officiating ministers,
Messrs: Cox and Shagen, came first,
then the ring hearer Master Charles
Cox, and flower girl Miss Geraldine
Atkins, then came the lovely bride gown
ed in a stylish bine traveling costume
of Mae with hat to match. With her
was her sister Miss Ella Mash, maid o
honor , Mr. Moore entered with his beet
man M:. Arthur Lane of Atlanta. The
solemn end impressive ceremony was
then, performed.
After a few moments hearty congra
tulations, and weU wishing the old one-
tom of throwing the bride’s boquet to

United States court at Macon yesterday
by Bailey A Graham, New York cotton
'brokers, against P. D. Phillipsof Berrien
county ror $8,625.51, the amount claimed
to be due the New York brokers by
Phillips for a certain number of beles of
cotton bought from them in Intnres, At
torney Prank S. Harrell, representing
Mr. Phillips, give* ont the following
statement. '
Phillips alleges as his defense that he
bought the cotton and when he wired
for a margin, gave two checks, each for
|600. and inatrneted the brokers to sell
when cotton was op, and that they did
not do this, bat sold when it wa* down;
thus the loss. He instructed • the bank
to withhold payment of the checks. He
farther alleges that the transaction was
of on Immoral and illegal nature
not in accordance with the laws of the
ounntry. ■
The ease was referred to the Booth-
western Circuit at Valdosta. The pa
pers will be served on Mr. Phillips to
morrow. Phillips is a prominent saw
mill man in Berrien, and resides at
Fender, seven miles south of Tifton.

A Quiet Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Thursday. All the stores,

The funeral of Mrs. J. J. Hartsfleld
took place Thursday afternoon from the
family residence on Carrol HllL The
pall bearers were C. M. Robinson, Robt.
McDonald, Henry Arnold, Jaa. White,
James Evans and J. M, Massey. Bey.
K. Road preached the funeral fermon
and the remains were laid to test in
Laurel Hill, Mrs. Hartsfleld and ten
children to mourn her lots.
