Savannah, Ga., Dec. 16.—The flag of the Mallory Steamship Line will on January 1st be seen ln the port ^fiavannah for the first time on a regular schedule between this port and New York If the carefully laid plans ot the lumbermen of the port do not miscarry. Recently ^the announcement was made that the Mallory Line would not ln future ply between Brunswick and New York and at a special meet ing of the lumber committee of the Board of Trade held at noon last Frl- duy the preliminary steps were taken to Insure tho new line from the p; rt, providing of course tnat suitable car goes could be provided. The lumber men are of course sanguine on this point, for, despite the fact that there are at present two separate lines ply ing from the port the service is not nor bus it over been thoroughly sat isfactory to the lumber interests here. For this reason a determined effort will bo made to secure the Mal lory Line of steamships on a regu lar schedule from New York to Sa vannah beginning with the first of the year. Of course the benefit to be derived from this additional schedule of ves- »els from the i>ort are obvious, he first place a fast and satisfactory ’thedule would be put on, by the new Ine in competing with the Ocean iteamsbip Co., which would provide faster and more satisfactory scr- lce to meet the competition. stoners of Roads and Revenue up to ; and including the 1st Tuesday ip j Thoniasville of said count.
