COUNTY POLITICS.
While wo do not see any reason to
think that advice of this nature will
be needed in Homos county yet
might not be ont of place. Let'
make this coming campaign for
different county and state offices the
cleanest and most fairly conducted
In every way that the county has
ever experienced. There are candl
dates galore for many offices and
each and every one la of course de
sirous of making good and getting
the plum.
This In Itself la laudable and per
fectly legitimate. There have been
times however when politicians and
their friends have taken advantage
of various little tblogs and used them
against their opponents with serious
results. They have handled them In
n manner that was not high-toned
to say the least Wo do not believe
that there will be any such conditions
In this county but there Is nothing
like a word of warning at the begin
nlng of the race.
The persenell of the candidates la
of the highest, including some of the
best and most substantial of the cit
izenry of Thomas county. They are
men who realise the responsibility of
the offices they seek and the princi
ples 'of honor and manliness which
• ,« J7
should govern every man whether a
candidate for oflloe or not. We can
say that they will not deviate from
that path knowingly.
.The slighting remark, the little
conjecture as to why this la thus and
what In the world a certain official
does this or that for, when In real
Ity there Is no ground for the expres
sion, Is the way that many a wrong
Impresalon Is created and many an
enemy Is made. Be open and fair
and square and also Impress upon the
friends of the candidates
their cause that this Is
most satisfactory methi
office.

Oscar Brinson is a boy who de
serves great credit. He has been
working for himself for some time
and going to school also. He is a
young boy and has only advanced to
the seventh grade. For a member of
the grammar school, this is rather
remarkable, and speaks well for the
Intellectual ability of the young
man. Miss Hines has written arti
cles before, that attracted a great
deal of favorable comment and the
fact that he won over her Is In It
self quite an honor. The many
friends of the young fellow hope to
see him come out well in ths state
