SEABOARD AIR LINE RAILWAY i { the depressing economic period { through which we are passing. | This body is of the opinion lhul’ mention of this should be made in | these presentments, and that our [ people be urged to be patient um:‘ to cooperate to the fullest u'n!il[ !\\'m‘k is found for every one, :md‘ |wa return to a more normal econ- | | omic status. ! | Athens and. Clarke County have 'passed through many financial | erises, bhut have always forged ahead in spite of difficulties. Tt j¢ =afe to say that we are in as | cood condition today as any oth(-r’ city and county of size and com mercial importance. In this crisis both should go forward, keeping in mind that without progress there is stagation. This city and county | must keep abreast of the times. Weork, and visions will cenquer any depression. We are attaching hereto and making a part of these present ments the several committees re ports. Since Loth army and commercial air port service is developing rap idly, and routes are selected for such service upon the basis of air ports in operation, and not upon the promise of air-ports to be constructed. Athens being a| logical point for such service, we, therefore recommend the county proceed at once the building of a modern air port with all the fu-! cilities for freight, passengers and army purposes. Whereas our President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in his wisdom has taken steps and advocates m(\.as-‘ ures for the relief of the dlatreas-‘ ing conditions of our country, And, whereas, this Grand Jury| bhelieves the return to normal con ditions in our county is dependent upon the unqualified support of our President, Therefore, be it resolved, thaf we urge upon our Senators and Congressmen the necessity of their loval support of the Fresident. We recommend that the clerk of this Grand Jury be paid SIO.OO for extra services rendered. And, that these presentments be published in The Banner-Herald. We wish to extend to the Court and to the Solicitor General ap-! preciations for their courteous as sistance given us, and to the Bail it6 who faithfully served us. ' Chas. E. Martin, Foreman J. 'H.
