On the 20th of July, 1807, the
Board cf Truftees rcfolvcd that
adlons (houTcl be commenced a
gainft tfcfpafTers on rheir lands in
Athens and its vicinity, and that
any perfofi in Athens might take
wood for firel therefrom, paying at
the rate of eight dollars yearly for
each fire place by liim ufed, exe
cuting a note to the Prefident for
the life of the troft, for the amount
above mentioned and payable quar
terly. The Board further refolded,
that rhe whole cf trees cut for fuch
purpofe be removed and carried off.

of the faid State.
A PROCLAMATION.
W HERE AS I have received
official information, that jofhua
Kennedy, againft: whom a bill of in
dictment was found in April, 17
in the then diftridt of Wafhington,
in this Rate, for having murdered
Robe it Maxwell, Efquire, fheriff
cf the faid diftridt, and who then
fled from juftice, having lately been
apprehended and committed for trial
to the gaol of Pendleton d'flridt,
(under a former proclamation of
mine,) has again eßaped by break
ing the gaol of the faid diftridt, on
the 23d ultimo. To the end that
the faid jofhua Kennedy, may be
taken and brought to trial for fo a
troeious an adt, I have thought fit
to iffue this my Proclamation, here
by offering a reward of three hun
dred dollars to any perfon or per
fons who will apprehend and com
mit the faid Jofhua Kennedy to any
of the diftrict gaols of this flare.
Given under my hand and the JMI
of the fate at Columbia, the 28th
of June , in the year of our Lord ,

years of age, thick made and wears
her hair tied—moft people would
fuppoie her to be free from her co
lour, as flhe is very white for a Have
—both Virginia born.
Alfo, a negro fellow by the name
of GARLAND about 25 years
©f age, cf a yellow complexion, ftout
made, about five feet ten inches, has
a kind of impediment In his fpeech,
when fpoken to he has a down look,
. #nd has a fear on his left bread oc
cafioned by the whip.
Alfo, a negro woman by the
name of JUDAH, about twenty
five years of age, tolerable black,
looks very wild out of her eyes, and
very talkative. Their cloathing
cannot be deferibed, as they carried
off a quantity.—lt is prefumable
they will aim for Virginia, or the
Indian nation.
The above reward will be given
for fecuring them in any Jail, or
ten dollars for cither of them, de
livered to either
