Dr. B:bb is a gentleman of hand

tegrity, and the liberties of the coun

probation of his conduft by giving
him 2 general fuppert for a feat
in the next Congrefs.

We learn by a paffenger in the
Arcturtis, that Col. Burr and Gen.
Miranda arrived in Corunna (Spain)
on the sth of July, via England.
Letters from Bordeaux by the
Arccurus, as well as paffengers ftate
the exigence of an embargo in
France.

marching through this place for
Spain, by forced marches, where
40,000 have already arrived.**
Sept. 10.
Captain Lovett, arrived at Salem
from the Havanna, informs, that
the Spaniards of Cuba are deter
mined to maintain their independ
ence, even if Old Spain fhould be
reduced under the yoke of Bona
parte. The French had twelve
days from the time of his failing to
leave the ifland. Their fituacion
had been extremely dangerous there,
from the wrath of the Spaniards ;
fo me had been alfaffinated, for hav
ing fpoken lightly of the Spanifh
cajfe, and faying that the Spaniards
would foon be fuppreff:d by Bona
parte. They would not bear fuch
language. Captain Lovett having
loft feveral of his hands, fhipped a
number of French Tailors, who were
glad of this opportunity to get
awav.
The Bofton papers received yef
terday are filentas to the death of
Governor Sullivan. In the Reper
tory he is faid to be “ very feri’otifly
indifpolcu.”

eral Lefebvre had furrendered to
the Arragonefe, who had taken the
provifioas and ammunition deftined
for his relief j and that Jerome Bo
naparte was to he king of Naples,
and Murat of Weftphalia.
It was reported, that about 60,000
French troops had been recently
marched into Spain, including ma
ny of the national guards. The
patriots are faid to have 50,000
cavalry.

differences between Great Britain

The Madrid official Gazette of
June 20th ftates the entrance of the
French troops into St. Andero on
the 23d, and the flight of the Bi
fhop of that place ; that on the
26th the French army met 5000
Spaniards in the defiles of
Morena, forced all their pcfnions
and killed 300 of them j and that
on the 27th general Dupont took
th< city of Jaen.

By the Artturus, Captain Maine, ar
rived here on Saturday, in 48 days
from St. Sebajiian, we were favor
ed with a Bayonne paper of July
11 th.

left Bayonne on the 9'h of July, for
h-.s capital ; that the Emperor, his
brorher, had accompanied him as
far as Bidarte, with a moft brilliant
gtard, in which town the two mo
narchs embraced and took leave of
each other with the greateft tender
nek ; that H. C. M. flept that
night at St. Sebaftian, where he was
received with the greateft demon
ftraiions of joy and refpeft.
It gives us pleafure to ftate, /rom
letters which we have recently re
ceived from the ftate of Ohio, the
aim oft unimfal approbation of che
nomination of James ATadifon, for
the Prefidency. We think it may
be relied upon that the whole wef
tern country will be immovable as
the mountains.
