ALICE A'OAMS Office Phone 75 OUR SERVICE FLAG. 4h, how they loved their flag—that flag that floated O'er hill end vole In their beloved land,— That star-gemmed Sag that led them over ocean. To fight for freedom In a far-off land. How often, when our hearts were faint with longing Tor those we loved, far, far beyond the sea; We watched that starry flag in days of danger. And bade our souls be strong for liberty. And maity and many a lime. In deep ening twilight, When night her dusky curtains had unrolled, We lifted up our eyes to Ood's clear heaven. And, to, the sky was set with stars of gold! So when In love our patient fingers fashioned A flag to honor loyal hearts and true, We thought of starry flag and starry heaven, And marked each name with star of deepest blue. Save where some names had caught a deeper radiance, A greater glory than our earth can bold. Ah, then, to keep them ever In membrane*, Their place was marked with stars of shining gold! Tonight we thank Thee, O onr grac- " ious -Father, For those returned to bless our homes again; And oh. we thank .Thee for Thy golden glory, That dan 1 transfigure even loss and petal And now we deck each name with fragrant flower*;— Our lips are smiling, though the tears may fall,— Two. In Thine home, dear Ood, the rest in ours; Ood blest us, comfort us, and guide its all! —Lillian Guta Charlton. DR. JACK WOOFTER AT THE UNIVERSITY.
