At first it was! believed that the man wearing a brown suit, who was seen in the neighborhood of the burglarized homes was connected with the rob beries. Mr. Griffith, when ques tioned, admitted that he had a partner, but on investigation, Chief Seagraves said, it has been shown that he worked alone. It is believed that the arrested man claimed to have an accomplice, hop ing to lighten his own punishment, the chief said. Death Takes Mr. W. L. Roberts at Oconee Co. Home Mr. William ILee Roberts, 32, died at his home in Oconee county Tuesday afternoon at 5 g’clock af ter an illness of eight days and funeral services were held Wed nesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bethabara Baptist church. The gervices were conducted by Rev. Charles Tidwell and interment fol. lowed in the Bethabara cemetery by McDorman-Bridges. Survivng Mr. Roberts lis his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Roberts, Oco nee county; four sisters, Mrs, Lester Cary, QGriffin; Mrs. George Roberts, Walton county, and Miss es Annie and Ruby Roberts of Oconee county; six brothers, Rob ert Lee, Huby, Roy, Lonnie and Jessie Roberts, all of Oconee county, and John Henry Roberts of Walton county. Born in Oconee county, Mr. Roberts had spent the last 12 vears there. He was a member of the Baptist church since early childhood. Penny Named ~ As Business Census ~ Supervisor by U.S. WASHINGTON, D.C.—L.Dennis Penny, prominent attorney and former City <Court solicitor of Athens, Ga., was mnamed one gs nine supervisors to direct the ' business census to be undertaken in Georgia in connection with a i national survey of the kind, recent 1y ordered by the Department of }Commerce, Senator Walter ¥, George announced today. ‘ Senator George worked with ‘Senawr Richard B.
