2 ASUNCION ,
With thousands of their best troops dead, Bolivia and Paraguay
have rebuffed all peace moves and are reported massing their
armies for one of the greatest battles of their savage struggle for
the Gran Chaco, which has raged since June, 1932. The Gran
Chaco, shown in the upper part of the map in its relative loca
tion to Bolivia and Paraguay, and below with its principal strong
holds designated, has an area of 115,000 square miles, about the
size of Arizona. Dispute over ownership of this swampy, jungle
clad region has flared at intervals for a century.

With high government officials led by Dictator Stalin acting as pall
bearers, here is the impressive scene in Moscow as the urn containing
the ashes of Vyacheslav Menzhinsky, head of OGPU, Russia’s Secret
Service, was borne to its last resting place in the Kremlin Wall. From
right to left are Stalin, Klement Voroshilov, commissar for military
affairs; Viacheslav Molotov, "'Premier”, and Lasarus Kaganoviteh, of
