E::l Creekmore, vice president and gen eral manager of the American Cot-l ton Cooperative association, asks | that the American cotton farmer | vote for continuance of the Bank head cotton preduction conirol act in the southwide poll on the is sue December 14. g Faced with the possibility of fii larger surplus and lower prices, he urged the cotton producers to weigh‘ carefully their objections to the act} against benefits received. Speaking for the board of directors. of the association, he stated the cotton surplus had not been reduced suf ficiently “to justify any relaxation; in crop control for the coming vear)” The question on which the cot ton farmer will vote December 14 is whether the Bankhead act is to be operative in 1935, With a possible production of twelve to thirteen million bales despite an estimated 25 per cent ctt in acreage, the elimination of the Bankhead act will materially increase production, Creekmore said. . Creekmore said tHough he had “serious doubts” as to the advisa bility of the plowup _campaign drastic curtailment of acreage and passage and enforcemnt of the Bankhead act, “I believe cotton producers should, at this time carefully weigh their objections to the act as compared with benefits to be received x x x.” . ~ “I do not believe the present situation warrants a change for the coming year,” pe said, Presents you buy for unknown persons sometimes carry a message far beyond their apparent wvalue as a gift, Health .is prized by many as the most precinus pos-t session. Yo— (&) ~=He's smarter than Einstein, smarter indeed than anybody in the whole world including the Scandinavian, and he’s only seven years old, go ing on eight. Of course, it all depends on how “smartness” is determined. This particular child’'s rating is based on what is known as the Leland Stanford revision of the Binet Simon tests, Under these tests the boy—his name is a guarded secret because his parents want him to grow up a, normal boy and not be consid ered a prodigy—has an ‘“intelli igence quotient” of 230. The best \Albert Einstein, the wizard of mathematics, can show is 205 - which will give you an idea. . They say at the bureau of child : guidance of the voard of education ;that this youngster's “intelligence quotient” of 280 is the highest ever recorded. His parents are }Jewish professional people. His father is a teacher, and his moth er formerly taught. | Just within the last two days ‘the city has suddenly become ex tremely intelligence - conscious. Yesterday the papers made much of another seven-year-old lad, also of Jewish extraction, who has an “intelligence quotient’”” of 196. It was publication of news stories ‘describing the lad (whose name also was withheld, and for. ‘the same reason) that prompted au thorities at the- ethical culture school of Brooklyn to make known the exisence of their pupil with the 230 point rating. Under tests conducted at the child guidance bureau the Brook« lyn boy was perfect in .all tests up to those for eleven-vear-olds His answers to questions in tests for persons above that age were sufficiently - good .to give him a mental age of 16 years and 10 months. ¥ g When Dr. Augusta Albert psy chologist at the ethical school, first interviewed the seven-year old mental giant, the lad was asked: “What sort of things do vou dislike?” The child replied: “T dislike fights and arguments very much. As a rule they are needless, and quite pointless, since nothing is ever settled by them.” The boy's most remarkable tal ent is in mathematics. More than a vear ago he invented an alpha bet of figures—l for 3, £ for B, etc. —which he reads and writes per fectly. He also invented a method of setting down mysic in figures, and musicians say it is quite workable. Socially ‘and physically the boy is no older than his actual age. His motor development is not as far advanced as higs mind, and he is. not especially ¢lever with his hands. Although his = teachers say he could easily be ready for college within a short time, he is being developed normally with children of his own age. To push him, his teachers say, would bhe “to ruin him forever.” Skelton to Introduce Bill in Legislature to | Hike Official Salaries HARTWELL, Ga-—(#)—J. H. Skelton, sr., of Hartwell, widely known attorney and state senator elect, said. Wednesday he would introduce - a bill at the next ses sion of the legislature to increase the salaries of the state adjutant generval, and of members of the prison and public service commis~ sions. Mr. Skelton said he would fa vorfthe five major items in Gov. ernor Talmadge's leglslative pro gram, COLONEL, NOW SUH! ATLANTA — (#) — It's Colonel M. D. Collins now.
