Business Girls Club Enjoys An :
Unusually Interesting Meeting
An unusually entertaining meet -
ing was the one held last Tuesday
night et the ¥ . W. C. .Ai by the
Business Girls’ club. The mectings
usually last until 8 o'clock but
time slipped by so quietly it was
U before the girls started leaving
and some stayed until 10 o’clock.
The program wags planned by
Mrs. Vera Parker Murray and her
cominittee, consisting of . Florence
Allgood, Billy Bradley, Alice
Burch, Frances Evans, Elizabeth
Lester and Janie Trousdale. One
probably wondérs just what the
club does_ when it meets, how the
meeting begins, ete.
This particular meeting began
when a small group grew into a
large one as various members
arrived at the “¥YW”. home. At
6130 o'clock Alberta Chusch, treag
urer, opened the large door to the

beautifully decorated table ex
tending the length of the room. As
each girl passed by Berta, she
dropped in her quarter in order
to enjoy the supper prepared by
Mrs. Lonie Burch and her: com

The teachers of College Avenue
gave a lovely surprise lmuncheon at
the school Friday afternoon, hon
oring Mrs. king Crawford, a recent
bride. Mrs. Crawford, as Miss
Laura Dradberry, has been a popu
lar member of the College Avenue
faculty this year,
Promptly at two o'clock the sur
prised guest of honor was ushered
into the library, to the .steains of
Mendelssohn’s Wedding . Mareh,
played by -Miss. Nelle Shockley.
There she found the principal, Miss
Magdolen Glenn and the other
members. ¢t the faculty _grouped
around a beautiful luncheon table.
The long table was most artistic
in its decorations of white ang sils
ver. Graceful branches of silvered
leaves formed the charming cen
terpiéte, while each eud of tie
table was graced by silver candle
sticks holding white unshaded tap
ers and silver bowls of salted nuts.

What proved the sensation of
the night came when a huge box
of home made candy, a gift to
the club from Mrs. Tom Scott,
was opened. This really gave us
food for thought and we needed it
for the next episode of the even
ing.
This was the completing of the
business at hand and the appear
ance of Lucille Crabtree. 'ghis
Saturday and Sunday delegates
from Florida, Alabama. South
Carolina and Georgia meet in At
lanta to plan our conference next
spring. ;
Miss Crabtree gave the club a
few ideas that would be used in
pl:mniqg ,this conference, and alsq
drew from the members ideas that
will be used by Athens delegates.
Some of the topics discussed by
Miss Crabtree were “Individual
Economic Security,” “Peace Ver
sus War,” and “Race.”
AMiss Elsie Harper, member of
the national hoard of the Y. W.
C. A., of New York city, will meet
these delegates in Atlanta and aid
in planning the conference, which
is to be held in June. For the past
few years the conference has been
held at Cump Uakanawa, Mayland,
Tenn. It has not been decided yet
where it will be held this year.
Mrs, Annie Vie Bullard. and
‘Misses Lucille Crabtree and Wy
lene Chafin are the delegates from
Georgia. They are all from Ath
ens. It is the aim. of these. dele
gates while in Atlanta to aid in
the forming of plans for an out
standing conference. Mrs. Bullard
will be chairman of the confer
ence this 'year.

'B. Hudson’'s music eclass held a
i"stunt" club meeting on Wednes
day from 3 to 4 o'clock. Kach pu
pil had six stunts to perform, in
cluding blackboard tests, playing
scales, chordse and pieces from
- memory. ;
The game of “Lines and Spaces”
caused much fun and laughter.
. THe orchestral instruments were
distributed and three pieces were
studied and played.
~ Another musical card game was
’ played, training the eyes to match
up musical notes into books.
} After performing six stunts suec
