LITTLE LAD
e
e ——————————————————
By KATHERYN SEAGRAVES
Dear God, take pizy on his dirty
face,
And look over his patched old
clothes—
Look at the innocence of childish
grace
That yét no sorrow knows
I know ywou'll forgive his dirty
face,
‘Cause he was tired today,
And went to bed before eight—
A lad of six—through with play.
So manfully had he labored
To help his “Mums” get through
He'd helped her wash the doggie
And shine the car like new.
When wearied with all his doings
And tired *of all hig play,
Not knowing his face was dirty,
To bed he made his way. 5
And when his mother at eventide
Bent over his little bed,
She blessed a lad’s dirty face,
And kissed his tousled head.
