If she's already married, it certainly has slipped Katherine “Kit”
Klein’s mind. The national women’s skating champion, announcing
her engagement to Dr. Thomas Outland of Sayre, Pa., was confronted
with the statement of Philip Nicholas, boxer and her ex-trainer, that
they married in 1933 and still are man and wife. *“Kit,” shown
here with Nicholas while in training, says they were ‘“‘sort of en
gaged,” but never wed. Nicholas now is a Sandusky, 0., night club

Whitey is a self-satisfied frog, sort of puffed up with pride and public
ity. And—er-a she—may well be. Haven’t the scientists of the Amer
ican Museum of Natural History in New York been toadying to her all
these weeks since she was brought from her native pond in St. Law
rence County? The reason: Whitey’s an albino with pink eyes, and
the fact that she’s lived to maturity makes her rarer than human
quintuplets. There is only one Whitey, 'not five, you see..

Circus time is here again and
thousands of youngsters are
looking forward eagerly to the
greatest day in the year. But
every day is circus day to Man
uel King, 11-year-old Browns
ville, Tex., lad, the only boy
lion tamer in the world. Man
uel is shown in the picture
above—Bs pounds of boy pitted
against a 250-pound lion —as
he puts one of his snarling pets
through its paces, while three
other beasts wait in the back
ground for their turn in the
center of the cage at training
quarters. Just to show that
he’s a good pal as well as the
mentor of his ferocious charges,
Manuel poses at the right with
ene of his lions, in chummy at
* titude.
He’s Still Greatest Hero .to Her
