Stocks Pushed Up in Boom

+ NEW YORK — (#) — The in
flation bee buzzed a little louderf
in teday’s speculative markets and |
stoeks were pushed up in a bnom-f
time spurt to the highest levels|
since last July. ;
. Oils, métors, rails, steels, coppers |
and many specialties participated |
in the sharp rally which carried,
prices 1 to 2 or more points ahead
and put the ticker tape several
minutes behind floor transactions
for. a brief period.
While the inflationary revival was!
given most credit for the buying
movemernt, this picture was not al
together clear to market analysts.
Becondary bonds improved, but U.
§. governments and low-yield cm'-l
poration loans, supposed to suf-|
zg' under any drastic inflation,!
were not too heavy. Cotton was
&narrow. Grains, however, fol.
owed stocks. Foreign exchances
were neutral. i
‘"Among the best shares were
those of U. S. Smelting, Cerro de
Pasco, Kennecott, Anaconda, Gen
eral Motors, Chrysler, U. 8. Steel,
Bethlehem, Tnland Steel, Santa Fe,
Union Pacific, American Can, Allied
Chemical, Montgomery Ward, Un
jon Carbide, Columbian carbon, Du
Pont, Westinghouse, Johns Man
ylle, Celanese, Amerada, Standard
01l of New Jersey and California,
Socony and Mission Corp. The
utilities were fractionally higher.
Wall Street apparently got its
new inflationary urge from a var
fety of rumors and reports that
seeped into the financial sector from
Washington. 1

Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.—Psalms
116:15.
I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead! He is just away.
‘With cheery smile and a wave of
the ban‘l, ‘
‘ He wandered into an unknown
land. ¥
And left us dreaming how very
fair
It must be, since he lingers therve.
And you, O you, whe the wiidest
yearn
For the old-time step end the
! glad return—
! Think of him faring on, as dear
! In the love of the There as the

| Mild and gentle as he was brave,
i When the sweetest love of his
i life he gave
| To simple things: Where the vio

; Pure as the eyes they were liken

| The touches of his hands were
strayed -
As reverently as his lipg have
‘ prayed. ¥
Think of him still as the same
| we say:
He is not dead—he is just away
One year ago today one ot God’s
angels came and closed our loved
one’s beautiful eyes and he entered
into that desired rest, peace and
quiet known as death. His eyes
had seen Thy salvation which Thou
had prepared for all the people.
God had called and he must go.
But he was a man who did not
dread God’s call and went peace
fully into that beautiful world of
eternal things which he had learned
to believe from the word of God.
He had experienced the few jovs,
the many heartaches, the little hap
piness and the great disappoint
ments of earthly existence and was
ready to go through death to a new
life, His works will live forever!
His deeds of kindness, his words of
encourag\ement, his actg of sympa
thy, his willing sacrifices and pa
tient sufferings will never be for
gotten. Today he is looking for
the general Resurrection when the
earth and sea shall give up their
dead and hig body as it now sleeps
shall be made into his own glorious
body again to subdue all things
unto himself.
