PAGE SIX RGN 2 T Ay - Former Farming Veteran Dies i es in ~ llinoi onda is Monday Howell Cobb Huff, 64, died in Hines, Illinois, Monday wut 11 p. m. after an illness of several months, Mr. Huff was formerly a resident of Farmington, Ga. The body will arrive Thursday at noon and funeral services will be held at the graveside in Bear den cemetery near Poplar Springs Thursday afternoon at 4 o'cleek. Name of the officiating ministel will be announced later. Pallbearers will be Glenn Kilpat rick, Max Victory, Marvin Poul nott and Ernes' Saxton. Interm n will be in Bearden cemetery b MceDorman-Bridges. Surviving Mr. Huff are his wife Mrs. Howell Cobb Huff, Farming ton: a daughter, Mrs. J. E. Rau tenberg, Whitehall; twe brothers | %.. H. Huff, Bishop, and R. H. Huff, Elberton; one sister, Mrs., James Poulnoti, Farmington, and several nieces and nephews. A Spanish-American war veter an, Mr. Huff had brep in failing health for the past eight months. He was born in Oglethorpe county but had spent most of his lif2 in Farmington. He had many fiiencs to whom his death will come as a source of de:p sorrow. Francis W. Smith Passes Wednesday; Was 84 Years Old Trances W. Smith, 84, of Madison county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. Campbell, 806 College avenue, Wednesday morn ing at 8 o'clock after an illness of eight days. Funeral services will be held in MgDorman-Bridges chapel Thurs day afternoon at 2 o'clock, con ducted by .Rev., George Stone, Methodist pastor. ; Pallbearers will be Lloyd Brooks. B. H. Lampkin. W. L. Cox, Rgbert Burpee, Judge H. C. Tuck, George Burpee and H. E. Stevens. Inter ment will follow in Oconee Hill cemetery by McDorman-Bridges. Surviving Mr. Smith are four daughters, Mrs. J. L. Crowley, Memphis, Tenn., Mrs, ‘B. Campbell Athens, Mrs. B. T Wheeler, Rock Hill, S. C., and Mrd. R. B. Rugar, Marietta, S C.; two sons, J. M, Smith, Commerce, and B. F. Smith, Athens and several grandchiidren. Mr. Smith was born in Jackson county but had resided in Clarke county for the past 40 years. He was a member of the Methodist g\urch and leaves a large circle of jends who will deeply regret to learn of his death.
