CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
~ LESSON-SERMON
Services of the Christian Sclence
Society are held in the Georgian
hotel, Sunday mornings at 11:00
o'clock. Subject of today's Les
son-Sermon, “Christ Jesus.”
Wednesday evening meetings,
including testimonies of healing
by Christian Science, are held on
the first Wednesday of each
month at 8:00 o’clock.
Sunday school, 9:45 a. m.
The public is cordially invited.
Anmong the citations which
comprise this morning’'s Lesson-
Sermon, there will be the follow
ing from the Bible: “Fear not;
for, behold, I bring you good
tidings of great joy, which shall
be to all people. For unto you is
born this day in the city of David
a Saviour, which is Christ the
Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11).
The Lesson-Sermon will also'
include the following passage
from the Christian Science Text
book, ‘“Science and Health with
Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary
PBaker Eddy: “Jesus was the son
of a virgin. He was appointed to
speak God's word and to appear
to mortals in such a form of hu
manity as they could understand
hs well as perceive. Mary's con
ception of him was spiritual, for
only purity coul reflect Truth
and Love, which are plainly in
carnate in the good and pure
Christ Jesus.” (p. 332).
!tian ministry—a work of brain and
|heart as we!l ag of hand.
| LS B S
i Into this work he put the same
|simple unaffected earnestness that
|he put into his work as a tent-
Imaken Zeal and thoroughness
were his deepest characteristics,
‘-unless one speaksg of the goal and
{ purpose which these were applied
to serve. 5
‘ In this aspect, Paul appeals to
ius as a man of great originality of
| character. One may think of him
lin terms of a great empire build
ler or master of industry or busi
i"ess_a man always reaching out
!for some new field of interest and
| conquest.
The only difference was that
Paul in all this outlook and out
reach had in mind the extension of
‘the Kingdom of God and not some
|goal of material conquest or attain
iment of wealth, power, or fame.
{ The glory of Paul as a worker,
Iboth with hagd and brain, was in
| the fullness of his consecration,
|alike to his task and to his mis
| sion.
| If the world had more apostles
|like Paul it would ‘have better
gworkers; and if it had more work
'ers like Paul, might it not have
*xgreater apostles?
t The work of the kingdom and the
| finest. work of the world go hand
lin hand.
