Many Visitors Are
Conducted Through
SCS Area Yesterday
Yesterday was a busy one for
the extension department of the
soil conservation service, accord
ing to Lauther Elrod, extension
agent who directs the public rela
tions affairs of this organization.
The entire day was occupied,
says Mr. Elrod, in directing visi
tors over the area.
At 9:80 a delegation of ]rl:mtvr‘Ni
from Wilkes county, with J. a.
MceDaniel, county agent, and Curry
Veatch, assistant technician for
SCS camps were conducted over
the area. They were shown all
tvpes of erosion control work,
which is the type of work that
will be done by camp 5, located in
‘Wilkes county.
Returning with this group ‘about
twenty-five FERA agricultural
teachers in session at the Univer
sity College of Agriculture were
directed over the area as a part of
their course.
They were headed by Mr. Hud- |

«departmetn of the college,
Visitors to the project are not ,
only welcomed, said Mr. Elrod, but
are invited. ’
“We want the people of Georgia
to visit us, see the need of this
great work, our accomplishments,
and preach the gospel of soil eros
jon and its control, both in deed
and in word,” he said.
