II WARNING TO MANY
Some InlerestiT Facts About
Few people realize o what extent
their health depends upon the condi
tion of the kidneys.
The physician in nearly all cases of
’i serious illness, makes a chemical an
alysis of the patient's urine. He
knows that unless the kidneys are do
ing their work properly, the other
organs cannot readily be brought
back to health and strength.
When the kidneys are neglected or
abused in any way, serious results
aro sure to follow. According to
health statistics, Bright’s disease
which is really an advanced form of
kidney trouble, caused nearly ten
thousand deaths in 1913 in the state
of New York alone. Therefore,
behooves us to pay more attention
to the health of these most import
ant organs.
An ideal herbal compound that has
had remarkable success as a kidney
remedy is Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root,
the great Kidney, Liver and Bladder
Remedy.
The mild and healing influence of
this preparation, in most cases, is
soon realized, according to sworn
statements and verified testimony of
those who have used the remedy.

In Judge Price's Court
Because he beat his sweeheart up
pretty badly Sherman Colbert was
fined $20 or forty days this morning
before Judge Price. The couple got
into a loving argument which ended
in a free-for-all scrap and, although
the girl fought like a wild at, she got
the worst of it.
A young negro girl was arrested
late yesterday for loafing on a com
plaint from her grandmother, with
whom she is living. Mary Neely is
her name and when her grandma
whipped her several days ago she ran
away and has been gone for about.a
week.“Do. as your grandmother says,
for she feeds and clothes you,” is
what the recorder told the girl when
he dismissed the case.
Uncle George doesn ot like for folks
to call him “Uncle George” and so
he got mad when a small negro boy
called him by that name and spanked
the lad. Tho boy, named Pete Calla
way, then threw some rocks at the
old negro and so he was called up
before police court this morning to
answer to the charges of disorderly
conduct. He was fined 65<br ten days
on this charge and must face a more
serious charge of assault and battery
in the city court.
Artis Cross got a fine of 65 or ten
days for violating the special hack or
dinance. He went over the line at
the depot.

The immediate object of tue Southern
States Woman Suffrage conference is
to make the democratic party declare
for "votes for women” in its next na
tional platform, according to Miss
Kate Gordon, of New Orleans, who
spoke at the convention of the south
ern organization here today. Miss
Gordon stated that President Wilson
had said be was helpless to act and
that any expression on suffrage for
women must come from the party.
She declared now was the time to seek
that expression from the democrats.
"We southern suffragists believe,"
continued Miss Gordon, “that if the
democratic party declares for woman
suffrage it will mean a veritable suf
frage landslide within the next five
or six years. In the last year we
have witnessed the democratic cau
cus go out of its way to defeat the
establishment of a woman’s suffrage
committee in the house,of .represen
tatives by declaring the party's belief
in suffrage as a state and not a fed-
eral- right thus disposing .of a re
sponsibility on a movement that has
assumed world-wide proportions.
“Our suffrage friends of the oppo
sition are bending every effort to ob
tain the submission and adoption of
an • amendment forbidding disfran
chisement on account of sex. We of
the south know the expedients which
have been adopted to effect amend
ments that have a national control
to a right that the democratic caucus
has so recently declared a state right.
We know that our ability to employ
these expedients is not through the
virtue of their constitutionality but
by virtue of the fact that public opin
ion has recognized the injustice and
non-wisdom of a policy of national
interference with local affairs. Hence
the large choms of amens without
latitudinal, longitudinal or political
restrictions which assents to the dem
ocratic caucus pronouncement that
suffrage is a state and not » national
right.
"Shifting the scene from congress
to the states, let us no longer dis
cuss the situation from. 4ha point of
view of a party caucus, -but consider
it from the standpoint of tho women
of fifteen southern atdtePiwho ask
that the truth be applied at home. We
ask of the democratic partita state’s
rights party:In a one-party territory
to live up to the party’s traditions or
